Save tonight, and fight the break of dawn. Come tomorrow, tomorrow I'll be gone. – Eagle Eye Cherry.
"no one needs me." / "I need you."
And that was it, she'd closed the minute space between them and her mouth was on his. It was sweet, almost innocent, but it meant more. That's why he knew for sure, that he'd loved her for so long. The kiss, it was almost a reassurance that she felt the same.
Someone was going to die. Him, her, maybe both - and soon. The games had gotten out of control and no one truly knew what to do anymore. That's when he knew it was his only chance. A quick shout to Johanna had confirmed they had about 30 minutes until dusk and when they needed to leave to seek the oak tree.
Wordlessly, he stood up with her hand in his, and lead her back into the secluded forest. He laid her down on a bed of soft leaves – the best he could do at that point, before covering her body with his as his mouth found her pulse point. He trailed his lips down her neck over any exposed skin he could reach – drawing breathless moans to escape her lips. It drove him crazy and only made him want her more. He paused to look right into her eyes. His hands reached up to stroke away the stray hairs that had fallen to her forehead as he searched for assurance that she wanted this. He opened his mouth to ask, but was quickly hushed when her hands gripped his face to pull him back down to kiss her, before they left to trail down his back and lightly scratch his skin through the fabric of his suit. His clumsy fingers pushed the material covering her chest away far enough so his lips could trail further over the curve of her breast. Her skin was on fire,
He broke away when he felt her fingers stroke across the waistband of his suit, before her hand plunged in to find him ready for her. He grinned deviously, copying her actions until his fingers met her heated flesh, and he groaned in astonishment that the wetness between her legs showed she was more than ready for him. She sucked in a loud breath when his fingers stroked her heat, slipping a single digit as her back arched for me. He swore he'd never seen a sexier sight in his life.
"Peeta, please. I need you." She whispered, looking into his eyes with a sad smile.
Suddenly, their hands were everywhere as they fumbled quickly to push down the pants of the suit and he settled between her legs. Supporting his weight above her, he kissed her sweetly on the forehead before sinking into her, his groan matching hers. He'd only ever been with one woman before, but he knew no one else would every feel like this. Her hands gripped his hips to pull him further into her as he rocked between her legs, her strangled groans only turning him on ever more. She felt incredible, so tight and so warm, and it didn't take long before he was close.
Unexpectedly he was flipped onto his back as her hips straddled him. Her mouth found his in the heat of passion as she rocked onto him until his name broke free between her lips, and he quickly tumbled with her over the edge as a tear slipped down her face. Once his breathing had returned to normal, he sat up and hugged her for dear life, his own tears spilling from his eyes as they both sunk into the realisation of how close to death they were. He couldn't stop himself whispering Katnis, I love you against her chest as he held her. They could be dead in minutes, hours, so it might have been his only chance to confess.
From a distance he heard Johanna call to them that they had to leave, and with a sigh, they got up to sort their clothes out. He pulled her into his arms once more and kissed her for as long as he could muster in a single breath, before they wordlessly walked back to the beach to meet their doomed fate.
