A/n I don't own the ranger's apprentice (shame though :[ ) john Flannigan dose.

The thunder of a hundred hoof beats and the greeting wines sound through the forest as the ranger houses road to their annual gathering at a secret castle hidden in deep within grim wood forest.

'Daddy, Daddy, the rangers are here.' 5 year old Katherine as her dad packed the last of his things.

'Hay Kathy my little girl you are good while I am gone ok? Can you do that for me, and maybe I will take you with me next time.' Said Kathy's dad as he kissed good bye and then took off to meet the ranger's on their way through.

'Halt o'carrick how have you been my friend?' happily said Crowley as he trotted up next to the young ranger. 'Hay Crowley can I ask you something?'

'Yes, but later,' whisper Crowley then he shouted 'It's time to sing.'

A/n I don't own this song birds of Tokyo do

'Lately I've found
When I start to think aloud
There's a longing in the sound
There is more I could be
In darkness I leave
For a place I've never seen
It's been calling out to me
That is where I should be

We never carried days on our own
But now it's up to us to know
The weight of being so much more
We will find ourselves on the road

On we march
With a midnight song
We will light our way
With our lanterns on
On we march
Till we meet the dawn
We will light our way
With our lanterns on

As we walk out
Without question without doubt
In the light that we have found
It is finally clear
Our day has come
And we'll stand for who we are
We are ready we are young
We have nothing to fear

We never carried days on our own
But now it's up to us to know
The weight of being so much more
We will find ourselves on the road

On we march
With a midnight song
We will light our way
With our lanterns on
On we march
Till we meet the dawn
We will light our way
With our lanterns on

We held the light
To our faces
And realized
We were chasing
Shadows behind
Not worth saving
So burn it bright
Forever illuminating

On we march
With a midnight song
We will light our way
With our lanterns on
On we march
Till we meet the dawn
We will light our way
With our lanterns on
In darkness I leave
For a place I've never seen
It's been calling out to me
That is where I should be.' they sung as they tooted throught the forest to the old stone castle.

1 year later

'Kathy get up we are going to be late.' Came a shout from Kathy's dad, who was outside saddling up the houses. 'Coming dad just finishing packing now.' She yells as she hoped on one foot tiring to get her boot on and sling her bag over her shoulder. 'About time too miss we are going to be late if you don't hurry up.' Scolded her father.
