"What's wrong, Luna?"
Damn.
If you weren't so skilled with reading my emotions and body language, I would have easily given you the stare I often give to your youngest brother, the blank one with a questioning edge.
But you aren't so easily fooled.
"Come on," you say, kissing my shoulder from behind, "tell me."
You're too clever, you know me too well; all of my once effective means of confusion and denial can't be used anymore. I can't give you the odd looks or use the airy voice or even tell you something that's loony. You know it's a part of me but you also know it's a way of self-defense.
You're the only one that knows that.
"I can't find the right words." I tell you.
You kiss the nape of my neck, brushing my hair away from the skin you lay your lips on. "For what?"
I swallow and yes, I did feel you smile against my skin when you heard it.
"To tell you I love you."
Your lips stop but your hands pull me towards you. I climb into your lap like I have done on hundreds of occasions, and I secretly love how you are acting as though this is casual, even if my heart is beating just a little bit faster than it normally would.
You're not looking at me directly, but your fingers are tracing up my arms and over my wrists, where my skin is delicate and you know that I can't resist your touch there. You smile that small smile I get to see sometimes.
"It isn't that hard." You say, putting my arms around your neck and looking into my eyes. Have I told you lately how much I love it when you smile?
"But it is."
You shake your head. "Just knock off those other three words and you'll have it."
"Am I allowed to add two more words?"
"You can do anything you want, Lovegood."
I smile.
"I love you, Ginny Weasley."
You smile.
"I was wondering when you were going to get around to it." You say, sealing my words with a kiss, one that lingers, one that gives me your taste, one that I'll remember, because I don't often sit by the pond and tell you that I love you, now do I?
"I blame the Nargles." I say, and when you laugh, I'm positive that it's the sweetest sound in the world.
