Jimmy Jacobs' body hurts. From head to toe, he just feels like one big ache. Steelcage Warfare isn't so named just because it's catchy or sounds sensational enough to gain interest- it's honest to God war among eight guys desperate to prove themselves, gain a win for their side, But tonight had been ridiculous. Steve Corino is- or was- like a brother to him, so he had tried to do well, make him happy, but Kevin Steen was- or is- like a brother to him too, so when Corino had gone after Kevin, trying to set him on fire, the little brother in Jimmy had reawakened.
He'd stopped Steve. And he had paid for it impressively when he'd first been laid out by the leader of SCUM and then watched helplessly as Steen had regrouped before completely destroying SCUM, wiping it out of ROH completely. And although Jimmy thinks he should be scared or angry because his livelihood has now taken a big hit, he's not- so amazed to realize... he's relieved. Kevin, at least, hadn't been permanently injured or worse at the hands of Steve.
He's wanting nothing more than to just leave, decompress, when he bumps into something large and ungiving halfway down one of the small hallways. He swallows and looks up, about to snap at whoever it is who hadn't bothered avoiding him, but his voice quickly dies away when he realized he'd just ran into Kevin himself. "Oh," he mumbles.
Kevin smirks down at him. "Jimmy." And, dammit all, under the danger and evil glint in his eyes, Kevin almost sounds friendly, like how it used to be. He leans closer, trapping Jimmy with his gaze. "So, wondering minds wanna know... Any particular reason why you saved me from Steve back there?"
Jimmy narrows his eyes at him, smirking. "What, wanting to keep my at-the-time leader from being convicted of murder wasn't enough of a reason?"
Kevin shrugs, clearly not buying it. "See, I'd buy that except that I saw the look on your face. You wanted to save me, not just Steve."
Jimmy chuckles faintly. "Believe whatever you want, Kevin." He tries to walk past but Steen's large arm shoots out, blocking his path. "Now what?" he wonders, wanting nothing more than to just go somewhere and try to relax, put tonight behind him.
"What are you going to do now that SCUM is no more?"
Jimmy blinks slowly, barely having a moment to consider putting one foot in front of the other, much less what tomorrow will bring for him and his fellow SCUM brothers... not that he really cares overly about Steve's fate at this moment, considering, but they had all grown close, so this is weird on a number of fronts.
"No idea, huh?" Kevin finally asks with a small smile. Jimmy makes a face and Steen does laugh then. "Well, if anyone will land on their feet, I have no doubt it'll be you," he offers almost encouragingly.
Jimmy smirks. "Yeah, thanks." He leans back against the wall and crosses his arms over his chest. "How about you? I would imagine back on the hunt for the ROH World Heavyweight Title."
"You would guess right," Kevin nods, leaning next to him. They stay side by side, thinking back fondly on what had been and what would hopefully be yet to come for them both.
After awhile, Jimmy pulls away, his hotel still calling to him. "Good luck, Kev."
Kevin turns and looks disinterestedly at his outstretched hand before reaching out and tugging him closer, wrapping his arms around him in a warm hug. Jimmy freezes a moment before hugging him back, unable to help the smile crossing his lips. "Good luck to you, Jimmy." They pull away with matching grins before once more going their separate ways, this time, however, their brotherhood in tact.
