"Oops. I'm sorry." The girl looked up to see 2nd Class SOLDIER Zack Fair, having just bumped into him in one of the hallways. "It's okay," she muttered. "Hey. Do you know who I am?" he asked. "Yes." "Most people who had that kind of encounter with me would apologize back." "Well, I'm not most people, am I?" she told him, a smile twitching at the corner of her lips. "I like you," he told her, smiling. She looked up at him with a serious face. "You're a hero, Zack Fair. You may be called Puppy, Zack, Sir, 2nd Class, SOLDIER, Zacky, Brave, Fighter, Friend, Enemy, and more, but you are a hero. Always remember that. You are always a hero to someone." She had her hand reached up to his shoulder, holding on to it softly, but with a firm grip all the same. She turned to walk away. "Wait! What's your name? And how do you know all those nicknames?" She looked at him, again with that serious expression. "I'm Angeal's apprentice, too. My name is Journey." With that, she walked away, seeming to fade as she did so, until Zack couldn't see her anymore.
"Angeal?" "Yes, Zackary? Did you need something?" "I didn't know you had a second apprentice, much less a girl." "What are you talking about?" he said. "You are my only apprentice right now." "Then who was the girl I talked to? She said she was your apprentice, and her name was Journey." Angeal paled a bit hearing the name of the girl Zack had seen. "Zack, Journey has been dead since a few months before you joined SOLDIER. She was my apprentice two years ago, but she was killed on a mission. How could you have seen her?" Zack lost his interested look, to be replaced by confusion and disbelief. "So… She wasn't alive? Maybe I saw a ghost…" he trailed off, thinking. He walked away with only one thought in his mind. 'Thank you, Journey. For just knowing anything about how I felt. Even though we didn't talk much. Thank you for calling me a hero."
This is my first attempt at a drabble. Please give constructive criticism in reviews, but no flames please. Unless, of course, they are constructive flames. Not sure if that's possible, though.
Just a little idea I had after reading another story and wanted to upload here.
