Himura Kenshin
Anglo-Saxon epic poem
Chapter 1
--
The trees swayed peacefully, -- as the natural weather blew through
It's delicate leaves. -- The crisp autumn air
Surrounded his worn physical being, -- as he slowly advanced
Into the wooded area. -- Long eared creatures scurried around with glee,
As winged animals began to sing. -- Their harmonious tunes rose high
And the melody flowed throughout. -- But no song
In a million years could lighten -- the weight on his damaged soul.
The burden of stolen lives -- he just couldn't seem to remove.
His feet shuffled harshly upon the ground -- as the sorrow pushed him farther,
Farther into the ground. -- His aching feet cried out in pain
Yearning for a quick rest. -- Convinced by the whaling of blisters
He lowered his weary body onto the red soil, -- as if by a miraculous chance
The pain would be relieved. -- Like all mortally wounded creatures
One bandage would not cure this eternal wound -- for his was buried deep into the soul.
It seemed as if Fate was guiding his future. -- A small end is what he feared
In this forest of death -- when the leaves turn to red and fall.
Against a massive stone, -- he sat among the forest dwellers.
The cold touch against his skin sent chills, -- the chills of remembrance.
Horrible images flew -- through his weary mind.
Calling out for the manslayer within -- they sought intensely for his conscience.
He begged his memory to forget -- to throw all the pain away
And as if he had no control, -- the silent torture began.
The falling leaves cried from the trees -- the color of crimson red
They shed. Tears of blood descended -- upon the soil and in a deathly unison
They shadowed the innocent victims, -- which he had once sent to the other world.
