Disclaimer: you know the drill, Hermione, Harry, and Voldemort are J.K.Rowlings (gotta love her!)
The plot is all that's mine. DAM IT!
AN: This is depressing! You have been forwarned!
It was Christmas break, and I was alone, the only one besides Harry who had stayed at
school. Voldemort was strong, and everyone wanted to be with there families. Family.
Voldemort had taken all the love out of that word for me. Killing the only family I had,
my mom and dad. They were gone now, with Harry's parents. Two little orphans who
would face the world soon, face it alone. With noparents to say they had been there, no
one to call up and say Happy Mothers day to. Alone. The grief keept me up at night.
Crying softly into Harry's arms. I knew I should go help Harry with his work, but I was
so weak. I hadn't changed my silky nightgown in days, I hadn't eaten since Harry forced
food into me yesterday afternoon. I was nothing but a shell, I didn't walk, talk, eat, sleep,
I just sat there and cried. Books held no comfort. This morning was the worst.
Christmas morning. My gifts from home had been summoned, and I was so empty Harry
opened them and showed them to me. Books, robes, makeup, an owl, and my mothers
ring. I had wanted it forever, but my mom reused to give it to me. It had been one here
finger forever, but she had never told me why I couldn't have it. So ever year, I asked for
it, and ever year we fought about how I couldn't have it. This year it was mine with a
letter.
" Dear Hermione,
I know you have always wanted this, but I couldn't give it to you until now. It was your
grandmothers, from before she died. like you, I had wanted this ring so badly, but the
store was expensive, and mother wouldn't let me have it. One day I saw she was
beaming at me. I asked why she was so happy and she said that the ring was mine, She
died the next day. It looked like she had stopped taking her medicine to scrape up the
last of the money for the ring. Throughout my hard life, this has always come with me,
but now it should be yours. Your old enough. Stay safe, love you always, say hi to
Harold for me.
love always
mummy"
She never did know Harray's name. Now she was gone, I had the ring like a selfish brat,
and the dark lord had risen. I walked over to the window and opened it, looking out into
the night, and saw the stars glitter brighter than ever before, trying to help me gain back
my free spirit. But it was gone. I knocked out glass and threw my legs over the ledge,
hoping against hope Harry would be there to catch me as I fall......................
