Unspoken Truth
"You lied to me!" came a shout from the common room. They were fighting again. Ron and Hermione were best friends, but they fought more than anyone else in the whole school. Of all the fights, this was the worst.
"I said I was sorry," Hermione yelled back. They had been shouting at each other until they were both red faced, and Hermione looked like she was on the verge of tears.
"I never thought you, of all people, would ever lie to me," was Ron's angry reply. In an instant her expression went from angry to hurt. "I was scared," she said, no longer shouting at him. "Scared? Of what?" Ron asker her, still holding on to his anger. "The truth," came her regretful reply. He could tell she was sorry, but he wasn't backing down now.
"That's stupid. You know you can tell me anything," he said. "No, not this. You just wouldn't understand," she said, as the tears began rolling down her cheeks.
"Fine! I give up. I really don't care anymore," he replied, stonily, as he turned around and walked away for the last time. He didn't even give her a second glance, and he never knew the truth. "I love you," she whispered, softly, to his retreating back, the tears now falling freely.
