AN: As promised and requested, this is "The Reunion" from Logan's POV. Contains spoilers up until 221 "Happy Go Lucky". After that, it's slightly AU, as though the season finale never happened. Meaning, no Cassidy rape or suicide, no Logan-Veronica make up. It might help to go read "The Reunion" to get a picture of this AU version of Veronica's life after Neptune High.

Disclaimer- I don't own Veronica Mars. I'd like to. But Rob Thomas got there first.

He sat in his office, staring at the words on his computer screen. The words weren't exactly new- he'd gotten that particular email five hours earlier. He just wasn't over the shock yet. He had tried to put it out of his mind, really he had. After all, he had work to do. And yet he kept going back into his email, opening up the latest message from Wallace, and staring at it. Every time he read it, his heart rate picked up and his palms started to sweat just a little.

L-

I don't know how to tell you this, so I'm just going to say it. She's coming home for Thanksgiving.

I thought you should know before you hopped on that plane. Don't change your mind, man. You are getting on that plane.

-Wallace

Three times, he'd hit reply. Three times, he'd begun typing. Three times, he hit 'cancel'. He just didn't know what to say. When Wallace had first invited him for Thanksgiving, her name hadn't even come up. Logan knew that there would have been no invitation if she was planning on going home. Her family wasn't stupid. Spitting-mad Veronica did not a fun family holiday make. He had gladly accepted the invite- he had no family to speak of, after all, and the Mars-Fennell clan was so great to be around. It still surprised him that Keith and he had somehow developed a friendly relationship, but it was a relationship he prized. That man did not hand out respect like lollipops.

But Logan didn't kid himself. They weren't his family. They were hers. And Veronica came first, always. So if Alicia has wanted him there for Thanksgiving, as Wallace has implied, that meant that Veronica wasn't going to be there. No surprise there. According to Wallace, she hadn't gone home in the two years since Keith and Alicia got hitched. She would not have suddenly decided that this year would be different. That could only mean that she got talked- or guilted- into it.

"Why?" he whispered, staring at those words. She's coming home for Thanksgiving. It made no sense. There was only one thing to do. He picked up the phone.

"Wassup, man?" a voice answered after two rings. Ah, the beauty of cell phones and caller-ID.

"Why don't you seem surprised that I'm calling?"

"I'm only surprised it took you this long."

"My fingers just stopped being numb. I don't think the blood has been circulating in the five hours since my heart stopped."

"For what it's worth, she surprised me, too."

"Does she know I'm coming?"

"So you haven't changed your mind?"

"I don't know yet. Does she know that I was planning on coming?"

"No. I didn't tell her."

"Why not?"

"Two reasons- one, I want to see her, and so do Mom, Darrell and Keith."

"And the other?"

"I want her to see you."

It was both the response Logan wanted to hear, and the one he had the hardest time believing.

"This can't be a good idea, Wallace."

"You gonna try to tell me that you don't want to see her?"

"No. I'm trying to tell you that she doesn't want to see me. That surprising her with me is only going to make her angry. Or hurt. And I don't want to hurt her again."

Wallace sighed. Even over the phone, Logan could hear the frustration.

"I've said it before. I guess I'll have to keep saying it. You're hurting her more by staying away."

"Has she mentioned my name since I left?"

"What?"

"You told me once that no one ever said my name within her hearing. If she can't even stand to hear my name, what makes you think she'll sit down at a table across from me, and start listing all he things she's thankful for? I bet that right now she's thankful for being rid of me."

"Fifty bucks says that you're wrong."

"You think I haven't learned by now not to bet on the heart of Veronica Mars?"

"You think you'll forgive yourself if you don't take this chance to see her? Talk to her? Say what you need to say?"

"I'll think about it. I can't decide on this right now."

"Think about this while you're at it: My mother knew you were coming. Keith knew you were coming. And according to Veronica, they ganged up on her and talked her into coming."

"And you're trying to say….?"

"Five years is long enough, Logan. The Mars-Fennell family has spoken."
