Questions
It never made sense. She couldn't understand why her doll was misbehaving. She left him with the others, she knew she did. That was why, in the morning, she was surprised to find that he had gone. She hadn't given them much thought but there were other incidents. He would sometimes be in a slightly different position. She knew the suspicious behaviour was a fairly recent event but couldn't understand.
Enma Ai was not one to tolerate such unexplainable happenings. She waited for him patiently. Hone-Onna and Wanyuudou watched on from one of the house's rooms. They could barely see beyond the door. A part of them questioned whether they wanted to see at all.
"You're home,"
Enma Ai's voice reverberated hauntingly. Ren grinned at her sheepishly. He scratched the back of his head curiously.
"I'm home," he chimed.
She didn't respond. Her red eyes pierced him unrelentingly. Ren ignored her. He never ignored her. As he walked past her Ai spoke once more. Her voice possessed more strength.
"Why did you leave?" she enquired.
"I wanted to go for a walk. Is that so bad?" he responded immediately.
Ren glanced at her over his shoulder. They all knew that he was treading a dangerous lie. His cool, leisured appearance gave nothing away. He almost looked like he was enjoying his small rebellion.
"Why come back?" she asked.
"Why not?" he shrugged; seemingly oblivious to the trouble that he had created.
"Where did you go?" she enquired.
"I went for a walk on Earth," he replied, simply. "It seems you have a lot of questions for me. Were you worried? You shouldn't worry; I'll always come back to you."
A flicker of an emotion flashed through Ai's eyes. As the door was closed she was left with her thoughts. She spared a moment to the possibility of being worried. Then she too returned to the house. The thought didn't cross her mind again and Ren was suddenly obedient once more.
Author's Note: I've said this for others of this kind. I will not explain my work. What I write doesn't always contain the most coherence. Most of the time that is an unfortunate mistake but this time I did so on purpose. This may have aggravated you but I hope that you enjoyed this tale. I thank you for the time you have spared to read my work. Please accept my apology if you are less than satisfied.
