Dear Minister,

One of my students, Harry Potter, has recently shown interest in becoming an Auror with the Ministry of Magic. As I am sure you already know, Mr. Potter highly excels in defense against the dark arts. During his so far completed six years at Hogwarts School, Mr. Potter has received top marks in all his defense against the dark arts classes. He shows deep interest in continuing in the path of fighting the dark arts and I feel would be an exquisite Auror.

While at Hogwarts, Mr. Potter has shown extreme dedication to his friends, fellow students, and whatever task comes to him. Extra activates are a rare thing here at Hogwarts but Mr. Potter is an important player on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team, and has been since his first year here. He also participated in the Tri-Wizard Tournament during his fourth year. Being the youngest wizard to ever do so, Mr. Potter rose to all three challenges, and came out in a tie with another student.

Mr. Potter has more reason to become an Auror than possibly anyone before him, making him more so driven. He has proven himself worthy of the position throughout his schooling and even before then. In many aspects he is above his class, capable of performing magic full-grown wizards can't achieve; For example, Mr. Potter has been producing complete Patronus Charms since his third year. He's taken on a full grown troll with the help of only one other student his age, successfully slain an adult Basilisk, survived a Norwegian Ridgeback in the Tri-Wizard Tournament, and of course, has lived passed five face-to-face encounters with You Know Who, all before the age of seventeen.

Mr. Potter has had more life threatening experiences than most of us in his seventeen years, than most of us will have in a lifetime. Due to this, he has grown to an adult level of maturity in a short time. He takes criticism better than anyone I've ever seen, for over two years now his honesty and sanity has been questioned to unfair and unnecessary extent, only to have his words proven right, and his thought process normal. After all this, Mr. Potter still thrives under stress, and for all these reasons and more, I believe Mr. Potter will be a most amazing Auror.

Sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall
