Hey peeps! This idea just popped into my head and nagged me for the whole day so I had to write it down :)

This oneshot/songfic is another pretty depressing one... I try writing cute fluff, but my mind goes blank and then I'm always like, "blaaaargh... I'm horrible at this"

Inspired by Unchained Melody (really old song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret) Finish reading and then...press the review button! I could really use the help! First songfic ever...

I love writing about Byakuya and Hisana, because there are just so many things left unsaid...

How many years has it been now? And yet, he still catches a glimpse of her silhouette, almost ghostly, in the windows, the sky…..

Oh, my love

My darling

I've hungered for your touch

A long, lonely time….

He almost wishes he hadn't met her. Would he be spared this pain, then? But no… she had made his life complete, if only for a short time. For then he wouldn't have felt those indescribablefeelings, the burning in his heart. Her dark eyes seem to haunt him now, the sadness that keeps reminding him that he was never enough. The guilt had shattered her whole self, broke it into tiny pieces that could never be repaired. She was good at pretending, forcing herself to smile, hiding that darkness. He thought he knew himself, that is, until he met her. Her smile was lovely, while it lasted. She was so beautiful, so graceful, so kind, and yet so sad. He never cared that she was from Rukongai, as long as he could hear her laugh. He could have spent all his life trying to describe her, but it was simply impossible.

There was that time when he had been assigned to watch over a certain town in the world of the living. He saw her then at a park, the same violet eyes that hid absolutely nothing. She was laughing, and his heart burned once more.

Time, goes by

So slowly

And time can do so much

Are you still mine….?

And then he found her sister. Her sister, the one who had caused Hisana so much suffering that she didn't deserve. They were nearly mirror images. He had once thought that someone, something, was toying with his life, laughing and enjoying his pain, the aching of his heart, the tears that burned like acid beneath his emotionless mask.

I need your love

I need your love

God speed your love to me….

But now he hated fate. Hated it, and feared it, because with all the power he had, he could not change it. She's gone. The one person that he truly wished to protect. The one person that made his heart flutter wildly. The one person who could make the corners of his mouth curve upwards.

Oh, my love

My darling

I've hungered for your touch

A long, lonely time….

Her name was Rukia. He couldn't even look at her, still. He would lose himself in those eyes. He couldn't even let Hisana go, even after… he had lost count of the years long ago. Sometimes he would still hear her voice, ringing through his despair. "Byakuya-sama, Byakuya-sama…"

He kept going to that town in the world of the living, staring at that girl who was Hisana, and yet at the same time wasn't. He would listen to her laugh.

Time, goes by

So slowly

And time can do so much

Are you still mine….?

He would watch Rukia too. Watch her and that boy. Kuchiki Byakuya was not a poetic man. But even he will say that his heart will keep on burning, forever.

Oh, Nii-sama. What do you think about when you're sitting by yourself?

Rukia would know the answer now. Although she would never want to ask.

I need your love

I need your love…

God speed your love to me…!

He hates fate, and he can't let go of her. Year after year, the delicate sakura blossoms bloom, then fall, slowly making their way to the ground. It's a breath-taking sight. Some things never change.

He'll keep on loving her until the end of time.
