8-year-old Alec was standing in his front yard holding a fishing pole. His father stood next to him, holding his own fishing pole. He was waiting. For what, Alec didn't know. Just then a boy from school walked through the gate and Alec looked up at his father with a distressed face. "Dad, is he coming?"
His father nodded. "Yep. His parents are on a business trip so I offered to bring him with us."
"But dad, he's weird." Alec hissed. "He likes glitter and pink and girly things!"
His father chuckled and shook his head. "He has to come."
"Dad, take Simon Lewis. Take Isabelle. Take my best friend Jace. Take anyone in the world, just please, don't take Magnus!"
Don't take the boy
18-year-old Alec was leaning against the car outside the theater with his arm around his boyfriend. They were talking and laughing and eating left over popcorn and sharing buttery kisses when suddenly he was jerked from Alec's grasp. A man in a mask was holding a gun to Alec's lover's head.
He said "If you do what I tell you to then there won't be any harm."
Alec held tears back as he responded. "Take my money. Take my wallet. Take my credit cards. Here's a watch my grandpa gave me, here's the key to my car, mister give it a whirl, just please, don't take Magnus!"
Don't take the boy
23-year-old Alec ran down the hallway of the hospital towards his husband's room. He had sped all the way there when he had gotten the call that his husband and adopted son had been in a car accident. A nurse held him back from entering the room.
"Sir, your son's fine, but you'll have to leave because his father's fading fast."
Alec fell to his knees and grasped his hands in front of his face. "Take the very breath you gave me. Take the heart from my chest. I'll gladly take his place if you let me, make this my last request. Take me out of this world. God please, don't take Magnus!"
