National Crayon Day

AN: not mine & totally silly fluff.

I purposefully made my way into the conference room and I heard the uncharacteristic chatter of my men. This was something that never happened before Stephanie Plum came into my work and personal life. I watched hardened military men, gangbangers and mercenaries turn into big teddy bears. Ok, so I had changed too and they only acted that way around Stephanie but still they were not acting like themselves anymore. I don't know why I was surprised, but I was, at the image before me. I may need to bleach my brain to get this out.

"You're coloring?" I asked with a tone of the incredulity I was feeling.

Lester gave me a boyish grin as he cheerfully said, "You bet, its national crayon day, bro. We got our box of 24 free from Staples and adult coloring books. It's a great way to relax. Ok, so my book is Harry Potter and Tank has Star Wars but still…"

He trailed off at the glare I threw out and Tank picked up the verbal diarrhea, "Come on bossman this is a blast. I mean look at the pretty colors and they are retiring Dandelion. I mean seriously couldn't they get rid of white. Who uses that one? And why do we need a green yellow and a yellow green?"

Hal chimed in with, "Yeah and do we need a red violet and a violet red?"

Not to be left out Bobby enthusiastically cried, "Plus we get to name the new shade of blue. Talk about awesome."

What. The. Hell is going on? "Am I in an alternate universe? Are you men serious? We have a takedown to plan tonight for a member of the Crips and you are coloring?"

"Go ahead boss, plan away," Lester replied. He was sitting there coloring with his tongue sticking out from between his pursed lips like he was deep in concentration. I saw the same look on Julie's face when she was in elementary school and she was trying not to color outside the lines.

I jerked awake out of a sound sleep. That was the most bizarre dream I had ever had. I made my way down to my office after spending some time in the gym and what do I see? My men coloring at their desks before our morning meeting.
