Back at Hogwarts, long before the infamous Weasley Twins were ever able to roam the halls, stood two friends dueling in the Gryffindor common room.

Sirius threw another hex which was all too easily thwarted by Remus. "C'mon Sirius, is that all you've got?"

Sirius laughed as he dodged the oncoming attack. "Look who's talking, you cast spells like my Grandmother!"

"I have it on good authority that your Grandmother was a master at hexes."

Sirius pauses, giving a cheeky grin. "Never said she wasn't."

Remus felt his smile spread across his own face. He threw several more face swelling hexes, pleased to see how easily Remus was getting at blocking them. "You're getting sloppy, are the fleas bothering you again?"

Sirius let out a hearty laugh as he sent his own attack out. "Well I do hang around this big, empty headed mutt quite a bit."

Remus feigned offence, "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth of yours?"

"You know I don't, but I have it on good authority that you kiss Severus with yours."

Remus tripped over the couch and landed on the floor with a choking laugh. He rolled under the furniture just as Sirius jumped on top. "Well I know your sources aren't very reliable."

Sirius prowled atop the couch, watching for movement. "Okay then, tell me something new with your sources then Moony."

"I've heard that Lily Evans has been seen. . ." Remus rolled out from under the couch, "snogging James Potter." Sirius falters, his mouth drops open. He leaps off the couch and rolls behind the large, overstuffed chair just as another spell was cast his way.

"Really now?" He pants out. "How accurate are your sources?"

Remus grabs one of the pillows and holds it as a shield. "As reliable as seeing it myself."

Sirius chuckles, "Well, although I'm a little surprised he hasn't said anything, I can't say I didn't see this coming eventually." Remus bumps into a side table, the noise brought Sirius back to their duel. He peeks under the chair to see Remus' foot positioning. He whispered a small enchantment to lift the nearby vase and toss it across the room. Remus jumped, catching the item swiftly as he let go of the pillow. Sirius jumps atop the chair and throws a new hex across the room. Fumbling with the vase, Remus blocks the attack.

Peter Pettigrew bursts into the room breathlessly. He pants out, "James. . Severus. . fight. ." Sirius is at the door pulling Peter along before Remus gets a chance to set the vase down again. They sprint through the halls, in the direction Peter pointed.

They arrived at a window to see James land a spell on Severus, causing boils to appear across the Slytherin's arms. Lily was in the courtyard within seconds, berating James with a verbal attack. Sirius slaps his hand on Remus' shoulder. "Well looks like our boy Prongs here won again, and looks like that snogging source will have to find some new material since it doesn't look like that'll happen again anytime soon."

Remus shrugged. "Yeah it seems that James and I both had a good win today."

Sirius looks offended. "Win? What win?"

Remus picked at his wand. "Well, it's a forfeit when someone abandons a duel like you did." Sirius and Remus stared intently at each other.

James walked through that very same corridor minutes later, staring in disbelief at two of his best friends and their enchanted faces. Remus looked although he was stung with hundreds of bees his face was so swollen, and Sirius had a purple rash with little spikes sticking out across his body. "What the hell happened?"

Sirius smirked, "So I heard you snogged Lily Evans."
