"Co..balt.." eris rasped out, handing her exsausted son to the king. "Eris...eris! No! You can't leave me!" cobalt took the egg as the two lovers whinced in pain as the fire grew. "I was...never...destined...to live...forever...co..balt...please...raise our...son...i...love...you…" eris weakly smiled before her wing had dropped, her body going limp. "No..no..no! ERIS!" the fire grew and cobalt knew he had one thing left to do; run. He sped for the exit as the fire tailed on him. As he made it out the smoke had covered the sky. He couldn't tell if it was day or night anymore..

Cobalt sighed as he once again stood in the rain at his wife's grave. It had been 7 years since his beloved eris had died. "Pa..pa?" his son peter weakly asked, growing sicker every second. He had been diagnosed with a sickness unable to be cured. He would die at a very young age...cobalt sighed and sheltered his son with his wing. "I know peter. I miss your mother too, very much." the two bird pokemon walked back to the palace.

"I'm sorry, cobalt. It's his time now, disortion knew his fate from the start." azura's voice was soft with sympathy as cobalt sadly watched his 10 year old son's life fade from it's body. Cobalt used his wing as a blanket for his son. "Rest peter, your mother will be there when you wake." he spoke, tears trickling down his cheeks, only making azura sigh. "Dad...a.." with that, the prince closed his eyes and his body stopped moving. Cobalt turned away from peter, and wept. "He was so young azura...why did disortion take him and eris from me…?"

"King cobalt! I-i found an egg! w-well more like a hatched one!" azura opened the door holding a rowlet with her tail, it seemed to be asleep. Azura rushed up to cobalt and held the rowlet in front of him. "i-i'm not sure what to do!" he turned his cold gaze to the rowlet. The young pokemon opened it's eyes and stared at the king of the aviaria. The rowlet chirped and pecked cobalt's forehead, making cobalt's eyes ablaze with shock. For a moment, everything around cobalt faded except for the rowlet. He felt his heart thaw with a feeling he hasn't felt for very long; happiness. "I'll be his guardian." azura's eyes widened for a moment. "Wha-what? E-er, if you say so.." she gently put down the small rowlet and immediatley it ran to cobalt, nuzzling his leg. He smiled and sheltered the rowlet from the sun of the wide castle doors. Azura left the throne room and shut the golden doors to the castle. "Now then what should i name you…?" cobalt smiled, lifting his wing off of the young rowlet who flew up but then fell down only to be caught by his new guardian. "Hmm...how about i name you deuce, after the first king of the aviaria?" cobalt chuckled, gently putting down the young owlet. Deuce nodded and chirped again happily. Cobalt felt his heart ache with joy, knowing he had a second chance to raise a child. He looked up at the ceiling and stared back down at deuce, who already had fallen asleep. He chuckled, and picked up the young rowlet by the feathers and carried him to his room.
