Disclaimer: I do not own Codename: Kids Next Door and I never will.
Well, here's a sort of come-back. Sorry that I haven't been around the fandom lately, not reviewing new stories and such.
Warning: A little OOC because of it being slightly AU.
Nicknames
Patton Drilovsky walked into school, slightly downcast. Why would a teenage boy be forlorn on a sunny day like today?
"Hey, it's Patton the Pathetic!"
"Aw, poor Pathetic Patton."
"Ah, come on, I'm sure it'll brush over, Pathetic Patton."
Patton lowered his head and quickened his steps. He wanted to hide his face inside his locker as soon as possible. He hated it when people stared at him. It made him so unnerved.
Why were people calling him this? He had been performing with his drama class in front of the whole school. He had a lead part, so he had an onstage microphone attached to him. These microphones were left on at all times, including when they were offstage. Unfortunately for him, this meant the entire school had heard him accidently call his drama teacher "Mum."
Not even an hour had passed when he first heard someone call him pathetic. The name stuck and he was now convinced he would have to live the rest of his high school life in humiliation.
When he arrived at his locker, he quickly opened the door and sighed, frustrated. This wasn't like him. He was outgoing, he was tough, he was confident. Yeah, he would just go about this with a smile. Laughing it off and letting it pass would do the trick.
He grinned and shut his locker, not realising there was another girl next to him. She raised her eyebrow at him, but was smiling all the same.
"I didn't expect to see you looking happy, Patton," she said.
"Well, I guess I shouldn't be too down about it."
Patton was speaking to Fanny Fulbright, also known as 'Fanny the Flirt.' Unlike him, she had started her own nickname. She was proud of her teasing nature and never failed to charm the boys with it. The only person she didn't target was Patton himself, which he wasn't too happy about. Why couldn't he get a little love?
Fanny smiled. "See, I told you that last week and you didn't believe me."
"I've had the whole weekend to think about it," Patton replied, shrugging.
"That's true," she agreed.
Patton gripped his books tighter. "Well, I better get to class."
"Same here," said Fanny. She started walking away, then turned around. "Oh, Patton?"
"Yeah?" Patton asked, already in mid-turn.
"You're not pathetic."
Should I make this a two-shot? Hmm...
Also, the next chapter of Next Time will be up soon. At least, I HOPE so. *Trying to put it off because when she finishes she'll be nostalgic.*
