Fire and Ice

A Reno and Cloud Fanfic

Reno sighed, the cigarette smoke twisting in the air and disappearing into the sky as he did so. The red-head looked up at the sky, leaning on the railing of the balcony and gazing at the full moon. There was a lot on the Turk's mind, especially the event that had just occurred between him and his spiky blonde-haired lover.

His name was whispered quietly, but to Reno, Cloud might as well have yelled Zack's name right in his ear. Cloud was dreaming of him again, and from what Reno could hear, it was quite an erotic dream. A type of dream Cloud should be having about Reno, not his EX-lover. Anger welled up inside of Reno and he pried Cloud's arms off his waist, staggering out of bed.

"Mm…Reno…what's wrong?" murmured Cloud as he sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"Ya know, if you miss him so damned much, then why are you even sleeping with me?" was Reno's angry response.

"I—I don't understand…what are you talking about, Reno?"

"Don't act fuckin' stupid, Cloud. You talk in your sleep, you know that?" Reno said as he pulled on some flannel pajama pants and a t-shirt.

"Reno, it isn't like that," Cloud said angrily. How could Reno accuse him of that? After all they've been through together?

"Don't play with fire Cloud, you'll get fuckin' burned," Reno said, before walking out of the shared bedroom and slamming the door.

Reno sighed again. He'd been too harsh on Cloud. It wasn't like he wanted to end their relationship or anything, but sometimes, when his mind was working at 100 miles per hour, he just talks before he thinks. The sun was beginning to rise, changing the sky to a cheerful shade of pink. Reno laughed. Cheerful was the last word he would have used to describe anything right now. Nothing seemed cheerful when he fought with Cloud. But there was no way Reno was going to apologize. No, his ego was far too big to do that, and Reno would not out his pride at stake, not for anything. Not even for Cloud? C'mon Reno…he's all you got now, Reno thought. Another long sigh escaped Reno's lips and he looked down at his feet, hanging his head.

"I don't know how I feel about him anymore," Reno jumped. He hadn't even noticed Cloud walking up behind him, let alone stand next to him. His gaze was…icy. There was no warmth in his mako-blue eyes.

"I…" Reno started, but was cut off by Cloud.

"I feel at peace when I think of him, but…"

"It's nothing, don't worry about it," Reno said, looking over at Cloud. He smiled and placed a hand on the blonde's arm, patting it reassuringly. Taking one last drag of his cigarette, he put it out and hugged Cloud tightly.

"I over reacted…I'm…"

"I know. I forgive you…" Cloud said knowingly, taking Reno's hand and walking into the bedroom.

"Now…make it up to me," whispered Cloud seductively as he pulled Reno down onto the bed and kissed his soft lips.

We should fight more often…Reno thought, a smirk gracing his face.
