Cyrus' P.O.V.
I absentmindedly doodle words in my notebook during Mrs. Cram's lecture. I really like our Home Economics class but find a few things boring. The one thing that I love about this class is our baking sessions. Suddenly, I felt someone gently blow on my left ear from behind.
"Huh?!" I slightly turned my head and realized it was Myra Chain. Oh no! Not this girl again! Look I have nothing against her but she's so hard to predict. I'm just glad her other two friends aren't here. They might still like me and try something. "Boo what up?," Myra asked softly.
I flashed her a quick smile and squirmed in my seat. I wish one of my besties were here to protect me. I can't think like that though. I'll protect myself! "Haven't seen ya in a while and when I do ya always run off somewhere," Myra continued. I shrugged and let out a soft sigh. I took out a piece of paper from my notebook and quickly wrote on it.
Then I handed it to her with my eyes glued to Mrs. Cram, making sure she didn't see. Myra let out a soft giggle after she read the paper. I simply wrote:
"Hey. I think you and your friends are really nice girls. However, you guys can go too far sometimes. Plus, I'm not into girls. I don't want to hurt anyone but it's the truth. So can you all please stop teasing me?"
"Boo," Myra said softly in my ear. I listened to her, still not averting my gaze from Mrs. Cram. "All you had to do was say that from day one," she explained. "You had me all up in my feelings for you," she continued. I could hear a hint of disappointment in her voice but she let out another giggle.
"Here," she said handing me a stick of bubblegum. I smiled at this peace offering as she slipped the paper into my hand. I glanced down at the paper and smiled again. Myra wrote that her and her friends will stop trying to bait me in. I exhaled in relief as the lecture went on.
When class was over, I went straight to my locker. Buffy and Andi were there waiting for me. "Cyrus!," Andi greeted cheerfully. Buffy gave me a big hug as I greeted them back. "What's up Sis?," I asked Buffy and she grinned mischievously. I narrowed my eyes and smirked at her as I heard footsteps behind me.
"What?," I asked as I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders. "Hey," Leo greeted looking at me with hearts in his eyes. I smirked as I looked away. Andi started snickering and Buffy looked at Leo endearingly. "Leo you're so confident," Buffy praised. I shot my eyes at her as she continued. "You know what you want and never give up on things," Buffy praised again with a huge grin on her face.
Leo slowly lowered his arm, looking away bashfully. "You're just saying that to be nice," he gushed quietly. Leo leaned against my shoulder as I left out a cough. "What brings you here Leo Lionheart?," I asked trying not to smile. Leo smiled at me as I quickly looked away. "You loaned me your notebook for Science and I wanted to return it," he explained.
Buffy lightly slapped Leo on his shoulder as she began walking away. Andi took my hand before she left to catch up with Buffy. What is going on? Did they leave me with Leo on purpose? Leo kept staring down at me with heart eyes as I remained fixed on the notebook in his hand. "Thanks Lionheart," I said quickly as I took the notebook from him.
"What's wrong Cyrus?," he asked gently as the hallway continued to bustle with students. I continued organizing the books in my locker before I turned around. "It's been a long...weird day," I began. "Don't worry about it," I added quickly. Leo stepped closer to me as I closed my locker door.
"Really?," he asked softly. I backed up against my locker as he stepped closer. I nodded as he gently pressed his forehead to mine. "That's the same as telling me not to breathe," Leo replied full of wit. I let out a chuckle as he stepped back a little. Was he flirting with me? Come to think of it, he hasn't stopped since after Costume Day a while back.
"Lionheart," I whined a little as I smiled. Leo nudged me with his elbow as we walked shoulder to shoulder out of Jefferson. "I know you're not ready for me yet," Leo reminded. I shrugged my shoulders as I smiled, surveying the crowds of teens for my friends. Then someone caught my eye, sitting on top of one of the tables that donned the school's front lawn.
"What's up?," Leo asked curiously. Then I saw him look into the direction I was looking. "Oh my arch rival enemy!," Leo laughed as I ran my fingers through my hair. "Come now," I drawled in a warning tone. "I know," Leo began softly as we continued walking. "It's delicate territory," he concluded gently.
I smiled at Leo as we walked closer to TJ. "Whatcha doin'?," he asked us with his eyes locked on me. I didn't look away as I smiled. "Just getting ready to go ho-," I began but was cut off by Leo. "I'm taking Cyrus somewhere," Leo declared. His tone was as if he were challenging TJ. Uh oh! Here we go with this again.
TJ's P.O.V.
I stare Leo down with a knowing smile on my face. This dude knows he be tryin' so hard to flex! I let out a soft laugh as I caught Cyrus lookin' at me. I smirked knowin' completely where I stand with him. "That's cool," I said smoothly. Leo tilted his head at me in confusion as Cyrus spoke up.
"Lionheart we're not going anywhere but home," Cyrus lectured as Leo chuckled. They sure lookin' cozy. "Bruh," I said with a smile on my face. "If ya wanna go then go," I concluded smoothly. Cyrus slightly cocked his head back as he laughed. "Seriously," he began. "I don't know about you guys but I'm swamped in homework," Cyrus laughed.
Leo was about to say something but his phone rang. "Hello? Hey. Yes. I'm on the way now," he said keeping the conversation short. "That was my mom so I have to go home," Leo explained reluctantly. "I'll text you Cyrus!," Leo said boldly as he sprinted away.
"See you later arch rival," Leo called out to me as I laughed. "That dude," I scoffed. There was an awkward silence between me and Cyrus. I wonder what's wrong and what I can do to make it better. "What's wrong Underdog?," I asked softly as I scrolled on my phone.
Cyrus gently took my phone out of my hands and sat down on the bench. We stared at each other for a few seconds before he began talking. "Haven't heard from you in a while," Cyrus said softly as I let go of my tension. "Cyrus," I drawled as I looked up at the sky.
"Muffin I'm serious," Cyrus said gently. "Talk to me," he urged quietly as I melted. He took my hand as a group of guys walked by clowning us. "Hey look at me," Cyrus encouraged softly. "Right at me," he continued soothingly. I kept my eyes on Cyrus as I lightly squeezed his hand.
"Okay," I gushed softly. "My mom's been workin' really hard to get full custody of me but dad's been puttin' up a fight," I explained. Cyrus nodded as he gently rubbed my left forearm. "I knew I felt tension coming from you," Cyrus said slowly. I nodded as we continued looking into each other's eyes.
"Wanna stay with me for a while?," Cyrus proposed softly. I couldn't help but smile at that. I leaned down to him as he shook his head smiling. "Nah still not feeling it," Cyrus said clearly teasing me. I fell back on the table's surface as if I'd been shot. Well hey, he did just fire at me with his words. "Uuggh," I groaned in frustration but I knew I deserved this.
Clearly, I was still on Cyrus' probation. So no love for me I guess. Cyrus started rubbing my left forearm again as I smiled to myself. "Kippen!," I heard a voice call out to me. I slowly sat up as Cyrus turned around. It was Kira! "Oooh freak!," Cyrus blurted softly as I shook my head.
"What's up?!," Kira asked as she jumped on top of the table. "You really be flossin' on a girl you know that?," she commented not caring that I was still talking to Cyrus. "Hey Goodman," Kira greeted through her teeth. Cyrus stood his ground and nodded at Kira.
"What up?," he asked smoothly. Kira narrowed her eyes at Cyrus and he did the same to her. "Relax!," she blurted as she smiled. "No need to show your claws," Kira added then shot her eyes at me. "Came to ask you some serious ish," she explained to me. I asked myself what the freak was going on as Cyrus stood up from the bench.
"I'll give you two some privacy then," Cyrus said as he gently placed his hand on my knee. He brushed past me slowly as I held on to his arm. He smiled at me as his arm slipped out of my gentle grasp. I watched my Bae walk away as Kira cleared her throat. "Thanks!," she called out.
"Whadda ya want?," I asked feeling a lil flustered. Kira moved closer to me and smiled. "I need help in Science and I know you're gettin' better at it," she explained. I cocked my head at her. "I gotcha but ya can't be on that goofy ish," I warned her. Kira nudged me a lil and grinned.
"Why the eff would I do that?," she laughed. I gave her the side-eye as I smirked. Kira laughed some more at me as I smiled. "Okay I did it before but not this time," Kira admitted. "I legit need someone's help," she continued quietly. "Your help," Kira emphasized. I nodded at her, agreeing to help in any way I could.
She's legit not that bad now that our love triangle is pretty much dismantled. "Plus I don't wanna enrage your little cat," Kira added through her chuckles. I shot my eyes at her, giving her a serious look. " 'Ey I just call it like I see it," Kira stated innocently.
I smirked at her as she nudged me again. "My lil cat," I repeated softly as I thought about Cyrus. "Dang Kippen," Kira managed to say through her laughs. "He got you whipped," she added playfully as I blushed looking away. "Ya can't help who ya love," I stated gently as I got off of the table. Kira copied my action as I started walking away.
"Don't forget your pho-," she began. I quickly turned around and held my hand out to her. Then I noticed she was looking at one of my texts. "That ain't cool Kira," I said as she stifled her snickers. "T-T!," she stuttered still trying not to laugh.
"What the freak?," I asked as I raised an eyebrow at her. Then I looked down at a text from my mom. Her message said:
Terra Jade, please answer your phone when I call you tonight.
Kira continued to laugh at me as I looked away. I quickly put my phone in my pocket as I smirked. "Yeah so what," I said confidently. Kira lightly slapped my shoulder before she left, blending into a crowd of students who were leaving the school grounds.
