A black haired boy and a red headed girl were sitting at their special corner of a very nice park. Around them the clowers had just sprung out, sweetening the evening air.

The children couldn't be older than twelve. Their bodies had yet to go through puberty, which was evident on both of them. Their bodies were too short, and their faces were still roundish.

They were supposed to study for their exams, and their books lay in their laps. But neither of them felt like studying. Instead they were eating a cake which the girl, Lily as she was named, had gotten from Hogsmeade, laughing at stupid jokes about James Potter and his gang of idiots.

"He tried to propose to me, you know." Lily pretended to gag.

"Maybe we should buy fake wedding rings, and conveniently flash them in the sunshine just to see the look on his face." Both of them laughed so hard that when they stopped they were wheezing.

"Can you promise me something, Severus?" Lily asked him, her bright green eyes piercing his obsidian ones. "If I would ever end up getting married and get children with someone like Potter..." she looked sickened by the mere thought of it.

"If I would die, could you please see to that my children aren't harmed?" Her hair started to shine brightly. Severus did not take notice of this, because it seemed so natural.

"Please, Lily," He rolled over in the damp grass. "I'll always protect you and your children. Even if they aren't mine."

"Thank you, Severus..." He could do nothing but watch when the a sudden bolt of wind hit her in the back. In front of his very eyes she became dust and disappeared with the wind.

Severus Snape woke up, slowly. Instead of jolting out of bed as he usually did, he lay in bed, trying to remake the picture of he and Lily eating cake in the park.

Even with the sudden end, with her dissolving to dust, it was the best dream he had about her in a very long time.
