The rain continued endlessly no matter how much I wished it would stop.

I knew being outside on such a rainy day would draw attention, but I didn't want to go into the small, packed diner, across the road.

A flash of lightning burst through the sky, momentarily brightening the day.

Knowing thunder wasn't far off, I made my way to the diner.

The door swung closed behind me, alerting all to my precense.

Before I had taken two steps in, a petite girl, with black hair and pale skin was standing infront of me.

Despite having experience with fighting these creatures, I didn't know what to do.
Patter patter patter.
She was smiling radiantly, her emotions different to any I had ever felt.
Patter patter patter.
Then she spoke, and her voice was just as I'd expected.
Patter patter patter.
"You've kept me waiting a long time."
Patter patter patter.
I wasn't sure what to do. My past was full of danger, darkness and despair, so I had nothing to work with.

I ended up ducking my head, apologizing to the strange vampire.
Patter patter patter.
A small, slender hand raised towards me. I held on to it as if it were my only lifeline.

I realized that the past may of been filled with wars and death. But the present was filled with hope and endurance. And the future? That was still unknown.
