The Stroll
They began walking down this pathway consisting of all these white Christmas lights, it was as if they lights were put up for their meeting. Austin, was walking next to, Sam, nervously, he was still a little scared that she might run away. She seemed disappointed once she saw who he was; yet he still had no idea who she was. She was only wearing a half mask over her face, but it was a enough to hide her identity. Walking with his hands behind his back unsure of how to began their conversation. Being able to meet, Princeton Girl, in person was everything he had hoped, but not knowing her identity was driving him insane. So, he began with asking about her identity.
"So, Princeton Girl, would you tell me who you are if I guessed it right?"
"Maybe." She replied with a smile.
"Maybe?" He didn't know what that meant. Deciding the only way to find out who she is was by asking a series of questions about her.
"Well, how about we play 20 questions?" She was quick to respond.
"How about 10."
"I'll take what I can get." As they continued walking down the path he reached out to hold her hand, but she became very uncomfortable, avoiding eye contact holding on to her dress. Knowing that was the wrong thing to do, Austin, began with his questions. "Okay, first question." Looking up trying to think of what to say. "You do actually go to North Valley High School, right?"
Letting out a small laugh she replied with: "Of course."
"I'm just checking. I mean, you never know with the internet. Okay, next question." Wondering if he was still disappointed about him being, Nomad, he asked his 2nd question. "Were you disappointed when you found out that I was Nomad?" Hoping she wouldn't say no, she looked away with a smirk on her face. "Be honest."
"Surprisingly, no." Looking back in his direction with a smile. She had to be honest with herself, finding out that your chat partner had been one the most popular guys in school was a nice surprise. After all, he wasn't the person she thought he was. The way he looked in to her eyes is how she knew that disappointment didn't even cross her mind any longer.
"Did you vote for me for student body president?"
"Surprisingly, yes." Trying not to laugh, wondering why that was relevant.
"Really?" Scratching his chin wondering who this mystery girl could be. As he was thinking she looked over at him hoping he would be able to figure out who she was.
"Okay, I got it. Given the choice would you rather have a rice cake or a Big Mac?"
Smiling and replying with: "A Big Mac. But what does that matter?" Giggling.
"Well, I like a girl with a hearty appetite." She continued to giggle even more. "And besides, you just eliminated about 50 percent of the girls in our class." Still giggling after all that he said. He felt this was the perfect time to grab her hand. Grabbing her hand she stopped and turned towards him not backing off like before. Staring in to each others eyes, wondering. Austin, couldn't believe how beautiful her eyes were. "You'd think I'd remember those eyes. You're so beautiful." She smiling big and looking down as if she was embarrassed, unsure what to say back to him.
"Um, next question." Smiling at him in a way like she was saying thank you without actually saying it. Walking ahead of him. He could only stare as she walked down the path without him, few seconds pass and he runs after her. They continue walking hand and hand until they see something in the distance...
