Imaginary or Not Prequel

Maya helped her mother put away the dishes and looked back toward her bedroom. Diana had noticed something strange about her daughter recently, and not the usual predicting the future strange. She was usually an active girl, always wanting to go to the park and spend time with her friends, but she had recently started spending time in her room. She walked in a few time thinking she was talking to someone, but she was always alone and never seemed to be on the phone.

As Maya helped put the dishes in the dishwasher, she seemed distant, almost as if her mind was somewhere else. After the last dish was put away Maya went straight to her room without a word. Diana stared back at her wondering what had caused the change. She was about to go talk to her when her cell phone rang. She picked it up. It was work. She knocked on Maya's door and walked in. Maya was sitting on her bed with a notebook that she closed immediately.

"That was work." She said. "I'm going to have to leave for a while. Mrs. Sanders, is going to come watch you.

""Alright!" said Maya simply. "I'll be back later." She added closing the door.

As soon as Mrs. Sanders showed up she left still worried about Maya. Maya came out of her room to greet Mrs. Sanders and get a drink. She loved when Mrs. Sanders babysat; because she always let Maya do her own thing while she did hers. Maya went back to her room with a glass of water without giving Mrs. Sanders a second glance.

She sat on the bed and opened her notebook. Maya had a feeling that her mother would assume that she was writing down more predictions, but not this time. She didn't know how to tell her mother that she was talking to someone that wasn't there. She didn't know what to think of it either, but she had become used to this person showing up. Even though she couldn't see her, she knew that she was there.

Whoever it was that came to visit her, knew even more than she did. She imagines that not being able to be seen had to do with that. Being able to listen to anybodies conversation and see anything happen without the fear of getting caught would be great. She thought. She remembered the girl said her name was Serena. Maya thought she had heard the name before or at least saw it somewhere, but she was never able to place it. She shrugged it off and continued to write in her notebook. Once again she heard the faint whispers that alerted her to Serena's presence. She looked up and smiled.

Diana got home later than she had expected and thanked Mrs. Sanders for watching Maya. A family of 4400's believed they were in danger after being attacked recently. It is a strange case. Diana thought putting up her coat. The family reported an attack on their life seven days after their daughter went missing. They mentioned that the man who attacked them had suddenly fallen to the floor bleeding. She shook her head.

"One day maybe a case that makes sense will come our way." Diana said out loud. She put her coat on a nearby chair. She walked into Maya's room where she was now sleeping. She smiled at her sleeping daughter and went to leave. She turned around quickly thinking she heard whispering. She decided that it was in her head, as she closed the door leaving Maya to her dreams.
