Now, I have been reading 3 devotionals (Devotions for the God Girl, Grace for the Moment, Jesus Calling) all of them have said different things about prayer, as well as the same things.

Prayer is our communication with God, the artist of the Universe and our lives. Something that I learned in the Devotions for the God Girl book is that our prayers our repetitive and boring. Do you say the same prayer at breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Or the same prayer in the morning as you do at night?

I do, normally the prayer my family does is for food is:

God is good,

God is great,

Let us thank Him for our food.

By his hands we are fed.

Give Him this day for our daily bread (Just so you know, I don't understand that part).

Amen

Our family prayer for sleep is:

Now I lay me down to sleep,

pray the LORD my soul to keep.

If I die before I wake,

I pray the LORD my soul to take.

Amen

Does anyone else do these kind of prayers all the time? Now, it isn't bad to do these prayers, but it isn't the kind of prayer we should do all the time. Imagine if you meet someone, but they always say the same exact thing every time you talk to them... how annoying is that?

I also want you to imagine this:

You have either just died or Jesus has finally arrived and you have arrived at the throne of God. What would you say?

Now that, that is what we should be praying. Whatever you would say if you appeared before the throne of God, that is what we should pray while we are here on Earth.

I also learned that we humans have a tendency to pour out our hearts (our worries) to God. Now, this is also good, you should do this. But it shouldn't become your prayer life. Our prayer life would be pretty pathetic if all it consist of is just talking to God about stuff he already knows. This may sound confusing, but it is certainly okay to talk about these things with God, but when you are finished try saying, "Your will be done" and see what happens.

A while ago I learned of a prayer called the ACTS prayer. ACTS is an acronym that stands for this:

A- adoration

C- confession

T- thanksgiving

S- supplication

Adoration: Adoration is the part of the prayer where you talk to God about how great he is, how he is such a wonderful God.

Confession: Is the part of the prayer where you confess you are a sinner, that you are only worthy of going to Heaven because of Jesus.

Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving is when you thank God for all that he has done in your life, in your family, in your friend's families, and all over the world.

Supplication: This is the part of prayer where you pour out your heart to the Lord, all that is troubling you and that you want to talk to him about.

I hope that you will all get a chance to do this amazing prayer.

God bless all of you!
