100_Tales Prompt: #53 Home

Characters: Sam

Summary: Sam wants to go home but he can't because he's a vampire.

Disclaimer: I don't own The Lost Boys or any of the characters. I just thought this would be a nice little story for the readers.

Sam looked at the cabin he used to call home. He wanted to stroll in like he was 15 again, say hi to his mother and muck around with Michael while Lucy berated them playfully. But he couldn't, well he could but he'd probably end up tearing them all to pieces. The bloodlust was getting stronger every day, even just sitting here it was spiking. He could smell his still-human family. He looked at his watch. 6.30 pm, they would be sitting down to dinner, Lucy, Michael and Star. He wanted so desperately to just waltz in and for everything to be ok but he knew they would never be ok around him even as a half vampire. He couldn't kill Alan, even if he had made him into a monster. He had come back to Santa Carla to find Edgar but he wasn't here. Apparently, first chance he got, Edgar had left Santa Carla and moved to Luna bay. He had only returned recently, briefly, to visit his parents who had finally smoked their way into hospital. They were duel drug coma things. Sam wasn't sure what the proper name for those thin…

A light flicked on upstairs. In his room…his former room. Who would go in there? And why would they? He had peeked into the room earlier and it was the exact same way he left it, except the bed had been made and the sheets changed, like he was still living there and using the bed.

He decided to investigate. As he slid soundlessly to the roof and dangled down the side of the house to see in the window, he gasped. His mother, one of the strongest women he ever knew, was sitting on his bed, crying. She was clutching a picture to her chest. Tears trickled down her cheeks. His disappearing had affected her more than he thought it ever would. His insides felt like they were being tugged and torn, this way and that. His almost-unbeating heart was gripping at his ribs, demanding he stop the tears he had caused. He closed his eyes, unshedable tears stinging them. God, what had he done. He had unintentionally broken his mother. She never cried, except when Grandpa had died. He sighed, his mind made up. He reached down and tapped on the window. His mother's sobs quietened to hiccups. She lifted her head slightly but not enough to look out the window and see her vampiric son. He tapped again. Still not seeing Sam, Lucy's tears began trickling down her cheeks again. Sighing again, he reached down and pulled one side of the window open. Slipping in silently, he stepped out of the shadows that had partially hidden him. He cleared his throat. Lucy looked up, startled. Sam awkwardly shuffled from foot to foot.

"Hey Mom."

Lucy's arms were around his waist in seconds. Recovering from his shock, sam gently wound his arms around her shoulders. He was home.

494 words! I think it's supposed to be 100 and 500 so I reckon I did good. I'm quite proud of this one to be honest. Reviews are love.

btw I know that Sam's bed is almost right up against the wall with the window so I shifted the bed, more to the middle of the room for the purposes of this story.
