In A Time of Darkness
Prologue
Jedi Knight Ubis Lorcall made his way up the steps to the entrance of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. He smiled more each step he took for he had not seen his home for five months. It was five months of pain, war, death, and darkness.
The Clone Wars raged across the galaxy and had affected everyone in its path, including Lorcall. The Jedi Order was called to be the leaders of the Republic Clone Army and in the result, many turned up dead.
Lorcall was one of those lucky few; he survived the jaws of death and finally returned home. For the last five months, he had been on the planet Corellia, it being the gateway to Coruscant in the Corellian Run. Separatist forces struggled to push through the Republic forces and control the Corellian Run to attack Coruscant.
His plans to defend Corellia didn't exactly work as expected. He had been called off Corellia on the fifth month instead of the seventh month since the Separatists had found another way to sneak up on Coruscant and attacked. When Ubis arrived, he had been late and the battle had already been won.
Upon reaching the entrance of the Jedi Temple, he grinned at everyone and held himself to not laugh. Joy filled his heart as he re-examined the entrance to his home. He made his way upstairs towards the Jedi Council Room to make a final report.
The door slid open and Ubis entered the Council Room. He bowed for a second or so and awaited the Council's questions.
"Jedi Knight Ubis Lorcall, welcome back to the Temple," Master Windu greeted. "Let us begin with the report. What was the damage on Corellia?"
"Separatist forces kept struggling to push through Corellia," Ubis began. "It seems they were trying to serve as backup support for the main attack force that attacked Coruscant. We lost about 5,000 soldiers fighting the enemy forces. Nevertheless, the Republic still remains strong on Corellia."
"Very good, Master Lorcall," Master Yoda exclaimed. "Defeated the Republic would be, had you not held your position."
"The main forces retreated into hyperspace. They made it impossible for us to intercept them. Our best intelligence reporters are investigating the nearby and faraway systems. We suspect Kashyyyk, Utapau, and Mon Calamari."
"Mon Calamari can be ruled out. We cleared that planet of Separatist forces months ago. Utapau was contacted recently and we've received information from Baron Papanoida that no Separatist forces are present," Master Ki-Adi Mundi said. "That leaves Kashyyyk."
"We will ready our force-"Lorcall was about to say.
"No," Master Windu interrupted. "Master Lorcall, you have been on the field for quite sometime now. We are allowing you a two-month break. We will assign another knight to Kashyyyk. That will be all. You are dismissed, Master Lorcall."
Ubis bowed and left the Council Room with the thought that he would finally have rest.
