Feedback: Good, bad or indifferent, I want it.
Distribution: Sure, if you really like the piece of junk I created. Just please leave my name on and don't alter it.
Rating: G
Category: General, nothing special. Doggett POV about Scully and how Mulder's disappearance has had an effect on her. Set during the early 8th Season.
Spoilers: Within/Without and nothing else, I thinkā¦
Summery: She seems to believe, but why?
Author's Notes: I'm not sure about this one; I don't think it's particularly good but I'll give it a go anyway.
Why believe?
She calls me a skeptic, a non-believer, and down right arrogant because I don't think the way they think. But I know something she refuses to admit; her convictions are nothing but a sham, a front she thinks she has to keep up, not just for him, but for herself.
I never knew either of them personally, but there were a lot of rumors. One week they were about to kill each other, and the next she was going home every night with post-it notes stuck to her ass. And the whole thing with him not trusting her, I really did hear that once, I didn't say it only to piss her off. I could never keep the stories straight, but one thing was always the same; he was Spooky, the believer, and she was Ice Queen, the skeptic. That's why I was so stunned to hear her rattle off all those ridiculous theories.
I should have noticed this a long time ago, like when I went to his apartment only to find her sleeping in his bed, and the way she would almost quote him, but it really didn't hit me until today, I don't know why. She's just like me, she thinks half this paranormal junk is crap, but she pretends to believe because of him. Not because he convinced her things like aliens really do exist, because she feels it's her job now. I can tell she's always racking her brain for the most illogical answer she can think of. Maybe she does it so there can be a constant reminder of him, or maybe it's some sort of strange loyalty, I really don't know. But I do know this, no matter what they really are to each other they are so much more than co-workers, partners, friends, or lovers will ever be, I've known that since the day I met her.
