Author's Note: Some MangaQuestShipping, since it was my birthday yesterday. It was supposed to be inspired by a picture, but... it sort of took a life of its own.

Icing

Crystal was furious. She had been baking for hours upon hours, creating a masterpiece of a cake for a very special occasion. It was supposed to be four layers tall and large enough to feed the entire cast of Dexholders. She had even prepared a cream filling for one of the layers.
But now, the icing was missing, and Crystal had no doubt that a certain rascal of a boyfriend was involved.
Snorting, she grabbed her spatula and let her hair fall down to her shoulders. The kitchen was sweltering, her head was throbbing, and if Gold was somehow involved in the disappearance of the icing, she was going to scream.
"Gold...?" She hid the spatula behind her back as she slowly walked down the hallway. "Gold. I have an early birthday present for you. No need to hide... Ah–!"
She had spotted him behind the bedroom door, his finger deep in the container of icing. With a thick blob of the stuff on his finger, he raised it to his mouth and, with a look of relish on his face, consumed it.
He realized he had audience with his finger still in his mouth. Crystal watched his expression change; from the self-satisfied smirk which he wore constantly in public, to a flighty look of panic. Crystal's eyebrows raised slowly. He knew what he'd done; the trick would be getting him to admit it.
"Crystal! Hi... um. I was just, um, planning on helping you! Yeah. Helping you ice the cake." He scratched the back of his head and grinned brilliantly.
"You were now." Crystal crossed her arms over her chest and stared down her nose at him. She was only months older than him, but right now he looks like a child, mortified in front of his mother. "Well then. I'll teach you how to ice the cake."
And so they ended up back in the kitchen, Crystal observing as Gold painstakingly attempted to put an even layer of icing on the cake.
He yawned heavily after several minutes. "I'm tired, Chris," he said. "Maybe you ought to let me go take a nap or something, while you finish…?"
But the blunette would not allow him to get away so easily. She grinned, cutting written all over her face. "Oh, no, it doesn't work like that. You have to finish it yourself."
His infamous smirk was gone as he put the knife back in the jar and pulled out another glob. He worked in silence for several minutes, internally bemoaning the fact that he was still on the first layer, and he had yet to add the elaborate decorations that he knew Blue and Crystal had planned for this occasion. Crystal hovered, barely holding back a chuckle.
Finally, after he finished the first layer to Crystal's satisfaction and started on the second one, he hung his head and set down the icing. "All right, all right, you win. I took the icing. I just… I just wanted to taste..."
Crystal crossed her arms in satisfaction. "Hmph, I thought so. Now what do you have to say for yourself?"
Gold flashed his puppy dog eyes then, trying to garner sympathy from Crystal's kind side. She expected that, and it didn't work. However, when he planted his lips on her chin and bit gingerly at her bottom lip, she flushed, losing the look of triumph.
When he pulled away, the heat from his breath lingering around her throat, he looked at her again. "What do I have to say for myself?" The smirk was back, and he brazenly licked another finger full of icing, this time directly from the cake. "Well... I can say that your lips taste better than this."
Crystal felt blood rush to her face and turn the entire thing red. "Gold…! Don't say that. We're never going to finish the cake at this rate…"
"That's okay," Gold muttered, grinning madly as he wrapped his arms around Crystal's shoulders and pulled her in for another kiss. "I never liked cake that much anyway."
