A/N: This song screamed GIBBS! So I decided to write another song fic about Gibbs! Please review and tell me what you guys think!
P.S. The song is Gary Allan- Tough little boys!
Well I never once
Backed down from a punch
Well I'd take it square on the chin
But I found out fast
That bullies just laugh
And we've got to stand up to them
Eight year old, Leroy Jethro Gibbs was the hero for the geeks and the weak. Anytime a bully picked on the other kids he got up in their faces and tried to get them to stop. He was fearless.
So I didn't cry when I got a black eye
As bad as it hurt, I just grinned
The first time Jethro came home with a black eye his father was upset. He thought maybe Jethro was just trying to get into trouble. But the little hero explained what had happened his father had never been prouder of him.
He knew he had taught his son right if he was willing to stand up for the weaker kids.
But when tough little boys, grow up to be dad's
They turn into big babies again
Jethro stood with his wife in the delivery room holding her hand and giving her words of encouragement.
"Push Shannon, you can do it."
Soon a beautiful little girl graced them with her presence. Shannon had never seen her Marine husband cry until the first moment he held their precious baby girl in his arms. She had always known he was a softy.
Scared me to death
When you took your first steps
And I'd fall every time you fell down
Your first day of school, I cried like a fool
And followed your school bus to town
It had seemed just like yesterday they had brought Kelly home from the hospital and then she was walking and now off to her first day of school.
Gibbs was a marine but seeing his baby girl growing up so fast broke his heart. He wanted to keep her safe and keep her with him, but he knew she needed to be independent.
So after the school bus left he hoped in the car and followed it all the way to school but keeping his distance so that she wouldn't see him. He watched her get off the bus and walk into the school and he cried. His little girl was growing up.
Well I didn't cry, when Old Yeller died Well I'm a grown man If you were to ask, my wife would just laugh
At least not in front of my friends
But when tough little boys grow up to be dads
They turn into big babies again
But as strong as I am
Sometimes it's hard to believe
How one little girl, with little blonde curls
Could totally terrify me
She'd say "I know all about men
How tough little boys grow up to be dads
They turn into big babies again"
Shannon knew the tough marine but it warmed her heart and made her love her husband even more when she saw him cry that day in the hospital. It didn't surprise her when he came home red eyed after their daughter left for her first day of school. All she could do was walk over and hug him.
Well I know one day, I'll give you away
But I'm gonna stand there and smile
But when I get home, and I'm all alone
Well, I'll sit in your room for a while
Today was the 15th anniversary of Kelly and Shannon's murder. He couldn't help but think that he missed out on so much with Kelly. She should be getting married and having babies of her own. He cried for the loss of his wife and daughter and all the possibilities. For all of the could have beens. For the love of his life and his pride and joy. Because no matter how tough he was with everybody else, he would always be a big baby with his girls.
When tough little boys grow up to be dads
They turn into big babies again
A/N: whaddya think?
