~ A drop in the ocean ~

Capturing their hearts was easy for her. How could they refuse someone with such beauty, majesty and power?

He looked out over the railings to where the sun barely kissed the horizon. Its rays of light a golden emblem gently rippling in the waves of her temperate mood.

She was powerful. He knew all too well how quickly her moods could change.

A beast some call her. A monster even, but to him no matter her mood or the torment she put him through, his heart belonged to her. She was his mistress, and he just another person whom she'd captured long ago.

The soft spray of salt water gently hit his face, an eviction of the unwanted, and a reminder that she had plenty more to spare.

By now the sun was slowly melting. Its golden rays now struggling to stay above what seemed like an eternal plateau.

There was something magical about the sun's final goodbyes as it disappeared over the horizon. There was no mourning to its farewell ... but instead the welcoming of darkness as it slowly crept in, its blissful shadow set to endlessly encompass the skies in a blanket of soft night.

He looked at his watch. Out here, time could stand still and he'd be lost in her heart, forgetful that with each passing breath, a second more had gone. He smiled. This was his life, but he knew one day reality would catch up. Circumstances at home were calling him to the land, but when they returned to shore only his shell would leave the ship on which he had become one with. His shell would leave, but his heart, his heart definitely belonged here.

Just like another drop in the ocean.
