First Kiss

Any idiot could have noticed that Lily's feelings for James Potter had changed. Any idiot, exept for James himself, that is.

Everything started on the beginning of 7th year, when he called Lily's name. She turned around to glare at him, thinking he would ask her out as usual. That was before she realized he only asked for her textbook.

As the days passed, Lily was even more surprised when she noticed how quiet the hallways had become since James had stopped bullying every poor kid that stood on his way. Potter wasn't that bad, after all.

Lily and James being head boy and girl, they eventually got to talk a bit. James had made her laugh during rounds, or boring meetings. They'd done all nighters in the warm common room, too nervous for their exams to sleep, and had the deepest talks. Lily had noticed the passion that lit up in his eyes when he spoke about Quidditch, and his will to fight against the Dark Lord. She had unconciously called him by his first name, and his face had brightened. She had glanced over at the window, and said that the night is beautiful. He had answered that he seems to be surrounded by beautiful things, earning a blush from her. Their eyes had locked, and she had noticed how his smile crooked everytime they lost themselves into each other's eyes. She had noticed the different shades of brown behind his glasses. She had counted how many timed his hand ran through his hair.

Lily stopped herself more than once from lifting her own hand up and gently play with James Potter's impossible, annoying and messy black locks, the very same ones she hated a couple of months before. She desperatly felt the need to scream out "Hell, Potter. I love you !".

But James didn't give her the time to. One night, after the usual rounds, as they were to say goodnight, he took a step forward, expecting her to reject him, but trying nonetheless. When she glanced down at his lips in response, he felt like a miracle had just happened. He lifted his hand up to stroke her cheek, tracing her bottom lip with his thumb. Lily placed her hand on is hips, pulling him closer gently. Their eyes locked once more, and something clicked.

James leaned forward and pressed his lips gently against hers, Lily standing on her tiptoes, which made her boyfriend smile against her lips.
