Mardi Gras

Rogue surveyed the crowd of people dressed in colorful costumes cautiously. She, Gambit, Scott, Kitty and Kurt had been sent to look for a new mutant in New Orleans. And it was right smack in the middle of Mardi Gras celebrations. She tried her hardest not to think about that very same night, two years ago, when she was kidnapped by the man who was now her teammate but still refused to take no for an answer.

"Listen Swamp rat, there are some things ya just can't steal." She told him on man occasions. "And my attention is one of em."

"Awe, well das where you're wrong chere." He'd smirk. "There aint nothin that Gambit can't steal. And as for your attention, well it looks like I already got that."

That was about the time whee she'd storm off, in the mood to beat something senseless.

He tapped her on the shoulder gently and she whipped around, her hands flying directly to her hips - A gesture she had no idea how irresistible he found - upon seeing the offered item.

"I aint gonna flash ya swamp rat." She said, her brown eyes boring into his red ones skeptically.

"Nah, chere. You can have dis one." He smiled, placing the sparkling green and purple beaded necklace around her neck and letting his gloved thumb brush against her cheek for a moment. "Vraiment belle."

"It really is." She agreed, twirling a green bead between her right thumb and finger, admiring the emerald color.

He laughed the way someone laughs at a child after they say something naive and silly.

She raised an accusing eyebrow. "What?"

He smiled genuinely, something she wasn't accustomed to seeing.

"If Remy had to pick out the most beautiful thing in this festival , it would not be dat necklace." He almost had to shout to be heard above the music and cheering.

She furrowed her brows, "Well than what would it be?"

He laughed again, the same way as before. This time it sent her temper flying.

"Listen, if ya got somethin' to tell me then just spit it out already, I aint got time for your nonsense. We're on a freaking mission right, now not a vacation. If you want to-"

She got cut off when he bent down and kissed her on the lips. It was short, but she could suddenly feel his thoughts in her head. Feelings of admiration and longing. She shook them aside, suddenly snapping back into reality.

"You idiot!" Rogue screeched. "Are ya tryin' ta get yourself killed? I hope that was worth it." She scowled.

He blinked several times, placing hand on his head. "Mmmmmm." He mumbled. "Je pense que tu est le belle fille, le plus belle fille dans la monde!" He sang quietly.

"Someones out of it." Kitty said, emerging from the crowd. "What happened?"

Rogue grumbled in response. "Don't ask."

She shrugged, "Scott says its time to get going."

"Alright." And with that, she took Remy's arms roughly, leading him to the Blackbird.

"Oh, and Kitty, remind me to tell Scott this is the last time we bring the Cajun home for Mardi Gras."

...

Hey guys, thanks for reading. I'm in the process of brainstorming a longer ROMY story, about a road trip called "Rogue on the Road." I may leave a little preview in the next chapter for anyone who wants one but this specific story is staying a one-shot. Let me know if you'd like to see the preview!

I've also started a HP fic called 'Speed of Sound'. Its James/Lily so if any of you are into HP and wanted to go r&r Id really appreciate it! :)

Question! Whats you favorite song that could describe romy? I tink that maroon 5 song would be good ... "I don't mind spendin' every day... beh blah... pourin' raiiiin!"

That's all for now!

pce ouuuuuuuuut
