RIP Michael. I forgive you.
Blindside - Informal. to attack critically where a person is vulnerable, uninformed.
He dreams, of flying kites with his younger sister, watching clouds, of peace.
The Outside is blurry - he can hears muffled voices, sobs even. The nice nurse - he can't remember her name, but knows she's with Josh - is speaking. He can't decipher the words. He feels they may be important but his sister is tugging on his sleeve, begging him to come and play some more. So he allows the Outside to drift from his conciousness, and returns to the hills of rolling grass.
Suddenly, it changes, and he's playing hide-and-seek with his whole family in a rainforest. And she is there, laughing, tucking her dark hair away.
Now he's back on the hills, and his sister is gone and he remembers that his sister died years ago. He feels a tug on his pant leg and looks down to find her laying on the grass.
Her lips move, but the words are disjointed. "It's okay, Michael."
And with that realisation, he tries to fight back, but the world is fading, disappearing
He wakes in what looks like a church, of all places. A great white - thing - approaches, and looks him in the eyes.
"Michael." But the voice - it's goddamn Lawson - and suddenly he hears Shannon speaking about marriage. He senses hesitation from the white being, and it steps away-
-he can hear Kerry sobbing, and the sound breaks his heart, because it's Kerry, and Kerry has a will of steel, why is she crying? He tries to speak up, tell her don't worry about me but the words don't want to come out. A faint grip on his arm makes him look down but there is no-one there. Not anymore.
The being steps closer, and suddenly he's standing behind Lawson and Shannon. He smiles, he's alive! But he looks towards the bed and he sees his body laying still, a continuous tone sounding from the monitor and oh dear god his parents are there and Josh is sobbing and-
-Now you know, the being projects, and Michael is left standing in the Hall of Origin.
