Nate looks everywhere for Bree when they arrive at Lily and Rufus' reception. He lost her somewhere in the crowd thinking maybe she went outside for air he heads towards the exit, but instead, as if fate decides at that very moment to intervene he bumps into Blair.

She motions towards a dark sleek town car on the sidewalk. Dorota opens the door for her and she slides in effortlessly.

When he doesn't copy her actions she sighs dramatically, "Get in Archibald." She orders, and he has a sudden flashback to his younger teens.

He stares at car with a frown on his face.

"Please it's important," She adds when she notices his apprehension and the slight whimper in her voice makes his legs move towards the door automatically.

"Fine. But this better be quick," He snaps and can't keep the edge from his voice, "Bree's waiting for me."

Blair winces at Bree's name and Nate's annoyed with himself for feeling some kind of weird satisfaction.

"No, she's not."

Nate narrows his eyes as Blair gives the driver to go around the block.

"Blair just stop it I know you hate her, I know she doesn't measure up to your impossible standards... but I like her alright… I might even love her. Why can't you just let it go?" Nate says and it strikes him at that very moment that he could never fall in love with Bree, but he refuses to voice that out loud to the very girl who broke his heart.

"You love her?" Blair's voice is unusually quite and he barely hears her over the noise of the street.

"I-I" Nate starts but he already knows he'd be lying if he tried to convince either of them he'd fallen in love with Bree so soon, "No. But I might. Someday."

"Nate," Blair turns to face him and he can't believe it but she actually has tears in her eyes, "She's not who you think she is."

Nate opens his mouth to argue but Blair put her soft porcelain hand on his and it instantly silences him.

"I'm so sorry Nate. You don't have to believe me, but I need you to know that Bree's only after Carter, her family has wanted to catch up with him for years and now she's found him, she finally has a way in."

"I'm sorry..." She repeats and Nate doesn't know what to say.

Strangely enough, even after everything that has happened between them, he does believe her.

He'd believe anything she said.

"Thanks Blair, for looking out for me."

She nods and hides her face from him, attempting to wipe away the tears.

"Anytime."
