It was a beautiful night at Malibu. Tony has just returned from a mission and he was sitting in his workshop, at his black desk chair, pouring two drinks. He kept the one and passed the other to Dummy. "Cheers", Tony said and raised his glass. Music was filling the air and he leaned back on his chair, eyes closed, relaxing while listening the smooth sound of the saxophone. He was trying to clear his mind from the mission, when he felt his eyelids heavy. Tony stood up and walked until he reached the door.

"JARVIS, lights out, please", he commanded.

Immediately, the workshop fell in darkness, music still playing. The outline of Tony's body was still visible due to the dim light coming from the stairs. He stood there, in the door when a faint smile appeared on his lips. Without saying a word, he climbed the stairs quickly.

He entered the master bedroom as quietly as possible. He looked around and saw Pepper sleeping. She was wearing an old T-shirt of his and a pair of sweatpants. She was sleeping at his side of the bed, curled up like a ball and hugging his pillow. Tony approached slowly, careful not to wake her up, he didn't want to unleash the monster, tried to release his poor pillow from her hands and straighten her position. The first one earned him a moan protest from Pepper and the second one nearly woke her up, but he managed to make room for him. He lied next to her, hugging her tightly as he grabbed the sheets from the end of the bed (probably Pepper kicked them in her sleep) to cover them both. He pulled her closer to him when he noticed that she was cold and tangled his feet with Pepper's to keep her warm. He slowly rubbed her arms with his hands to heat her up. He closed his eyes and thought about the last words of the song he was hearing downstairs. "I'm feeling good.".At first, down at his workshop, he thought that it was pure irony but now... For a moment, he heard nothing but Pepper's slow breathing. He realized that he didn't need any alcohol to make his life easier. When he was with her, nothing bothered him. "Yeah, I'm definitely feeling good.", he thought, as his body drifted into sleep, while a smile spread on his face. Tonight, he was sure he wasn't going to have any nightmares.
