(Note: I do not own Edgar Allan Poe or Bioshock)
As Andrew Ryan, the proclaimed ruler or "Overlord" of Rapture once said. "A man chooses, a slave obeys" Now that first part is true for James Belser, a man that made the decision to go after his brother in Rapture, thought it was unlikely that his brother was alive. If James knew what was down in that forsaken city of the insane, he would of not gone down there to find Ethan, his older brother.
It all began 2 years ago, when James was 16...
"Hey James!" Ethan called out to James from his room, in a loud tone, but a kind one.
James opened his eyes slowly to hear Ethan calling him and he groaned, and got up slowly, stumbling over a box of novels that he had yet to read.
James was an avid novel reader of novels about Political Oppression as well as works by Edgar Allan Poe. Who was James favorite writer, as Poe's novels were intriguing to him, the themes of murder and sadness, along with the other various themes Poe included in his novels.
James walked out of his medium-sized room, and walked to Ethan's room, and put his arm on the door frame, and laughed, "Looking at what you are going to do after you graduate next year older bro?" James asked.
Ethan turned and smirked at James, "Yep, I was thinking of working on a cargo ship, travel the world, and just be on the open sea, you know how we both love it. Ethan sighed and got up slowly, and looked at James with a sad look, "I know school has been hard on you James, but I had trouble too, you just gotta keep persevering." Ethan told his brother, hugging James tight.
Ethan had always been there for his younger brother, they'd had to stick together, since his parents were gone most of their lives. James hugged Ethan back, he smiled, "Thanks Ethan, that means a lot." James said with a kind tone, and an appreciative one at that.
Fast Forward 2 Years Later...
James had graduated High School and was currently eighteen, he arrived at his college, put the key in the lock, and turned it slowly, it was not James first time in his dorm, he had just gotten back from his 7:00 AM Creative Writing Class.
James opened the door slowly, pulling the key out as slowly as he put it in, so he would not strip it, rendering it unusable. He walked in slowly, and saw an envelope by his door. He slowly picked it up, and closed the door behind him, locking it, and sat down on the couch.
He pulled the drawer by the couch out, reaching in for a letter opener, and grabbed it. Slowly he cut the letter open, and pulled it out, folding it open. The letter read:
James,
I know it has been a long time since I talked to you, or even bothered to write you a letter, ironic isn't it that I'm writing you a letter now?
I know you want to talk to me again, and this is your chance if you take it, I will be happy, if you don't, I will not be mad, but simply sad that I cannot meet with you.
You will need a ship, I know you can rent one out of the harbor.
I know you can operate a ship, do not bring anyone else, just think of it as a bonding experience for us two.
Attached to this letter is coordinates and a key, you will need them both, I hope to see you soon.
