A/N: I wrote this several months ago for a drabble contest on LiveJournal's tdd1. Didn't place, but it's my first ever venture into the world of fan fiction. Thought it might help beef up my portfolio a bit. This moves me up to two whole stories! Wow!

Monday again and I can hardly keep my eyes open.

Kyouko yawned and stretched in her seat. Her large brown eyes were foggy behind her glasses as she looked sleepily around at her classmates. They had just been excused for lunch, and the students of class four began to move about and collect in their usual groups. Across the room OnoD had passed out at his desk and was beginning to snore.

I guess I'm not the only one who didn't get enough sleep.

Instinctively she reached into her skirt pocket and pulled out her little digital camera. She zoomed in on the unconscious boy and hit the shutter. "Gacha!"

Energized by her new prize, she excitedly looked at the image. A perfect specimen. He had been captured in a completely natural state. That was her favorite kind of photograph. A split second of someone's life that is totally without pretense or self-consciousness. Sure, posed photos with friends were fun, but they didn't capture someone's soul in the same way. This kind of photo was special.

It's not that Kyouko had any ambition of being a photographer. Even if she weren't already in softball, she probably wouldn't join the photo club. She just found people fascinating. She had amassed quite a collection of candid photos since she'd started high school, and for the past seven months or so her favorite subject had been the eccentric transfer student, Sagara Sousuke. More specifically, she liked to photograph Sagara-kun and Kaname together. Those were the most "interesting" shots of all!

Kana-chan would never admit it, but Kyouko suspected she had feelings for Sagara. It was obvious he cared for her a great deal, too. Sometimes Kyouko would imagine that they had a secret love affair. Being a Jindai student was only a cover. He was actually her dashing assassin bodyguard who selflessly protected her from evil forces who wanted to kidnap her. He had risked his own life for hers in the face of great danger, like Kevin Costner in an American film she'd seen on TV. Naturally, all of this would have to be kept secret from even their closest friends! It was a silly, improbable fantasy, but it still amused her.

A loud crash pulled Kyouko back to reality.

Sagara had suddenly overturned several desks and thrown Kaname onto the ground behind them. He was now crouching down next to her and holding his gun ready for an ambush.

"Sagara-kun!"

She looked beyond the upset desks to the open window. A bird had landed on the tree branch just outside and was cleaning its feathers, unaware of the commotion it had caused inside. When she turned back to her friends, she noticed Kaname's beautifully prepared bento had been spilled everywhere. Sagara-kun looked relieved, but Kaname's face was turning dark red.

"Sousuke! You stupid military FREAK! Do you have any idea how long it took me to cook this!"

As Kaname reached for her fan, Kyouko reached for her camera.
