Alright there's some credit to be given. While I am pretty much writing the story, Duel Scenes in this story will be done by Minaly22. Minaly22 is also the one who came up with the idea for this story, and they're partnering with me to create this story. The two of us are working together to make this story into a reality, and let me tell you, the ideas Minaly22 had are amazing and so I'm super excited to getting down to writing the story!

We of course don't own Yugioh, Yugioh 5ds or any of the characters. This is just for fun and I think you guys are really going to enjoy the story too!

With that done, we're going to start this off with the story's Prologue, and then the fun will start to begin.

Prologue: Zero Reverse

Hurry, the voice urged through Hakase's head. Hurry to what? What was this voice? Hurry!

Hakase had a bad feeling about this whole situation, so he obeyed the strange voice and ran on. The building shuddered again, shaking the earth beneath it. People pushed past him, panicking in the event and screaming. Others fell and were trampled in the blind panic, and some were already dead from falling debris that had been shaken lose by the rumbling. Hakase's mind ignored the blind panic however and ran towards the center of the commotion. He had to find his wife and his son! He had to save them!

Hurry, the voice urged again. Hurry!

Hakase Fudo did just that. He was a tall man with slightly darker skin. His hair was black and spiked up in the back, almost into a crab like shape, though his bangs were long and hung over his right eye, leaving only his left visible, which was a dark blue color. His face was full of nothing but fear for his family now, and he refused to leave them behind.

Blind panic was clawing up into his throat as the building shook again and a piece of it came crashing down just inches away from him. He forced it back down and just kept running, the drive to find his infant son and young wife overriding all other emotion in his brain. However, the same voice kept nagging at him, telling him to hurry. He shoved past someone running the opposite way as him. He was going as fast as he could. It couldn't get him to go any faster.

He ducked at last into the room that held the Ener-D Core. Maybe he could find a way to stop this, if he could just stop it... The sound of a baby wailing froze his blood and made him look up. The first thing he saw was the Ener-D Core threatening to finish the Meltdown that it had begun, though there was a strange purple spider sign appearing on the side of it. His eyes moved away to see what had made the sound and he gasped, running quickly over to them. Roman had cornered his wife and son, and even though he had an arm missing, it didn't take long to guess that Roman meant business.

Roman paused and glanced over his shoulder at him, and Hakase paused. He thought he saw a look of remorse in the man's eyes. However they soon became hard and he quickly dismissed the thought. Roman wasn't an unattractive man, he was tall and had wide shoulders, and he had been working under Hakase with his younger brother Rex. Roman had blonde hair that was longer in the back and cut shorter in the front, and his eyes were a light blue color. The man moved just slightly, alerting Hakase to the same purple glowing spider mark on his left arm. His right arm was missing.

Roman snarled and reached out with his left arm, pressing a knife firmly against Hakase's wife's throat. The small woman froze in terror, clutching at the wailing infant in her arms as if to try and protect it. Hakase was aware of the others in the room only because of the angry and confused outcries of several voices that had apparently followed him. Hakase could only freeze, and he couldn't focus on anything else but Roman and his small family. Nothing else mattered suddenly as he looked helplessly up at the man.

"You will do nothing," Roman warned him strongly in a growling voice that wasn't quiet his own. "If you do I will kill your wife and your son. Hakase you WILL stay there."

Hakase snarled a little but didn't move. He knew that Roman wasn't lying now. He felt someone lay their hand on his shoulder and tell him to be strong. However Hakase looked up at his wife and paused as she continued to hold their infant son closely. She met his gaze, and her lips formed into a tight line as they did.

Her name was Yoko, and she was the kindest and most beautiful woman he'd ever met. She was a small and petite woman. Her hair was brown and pulled back into a bun though her bangs still hung into her face a little. Her eyes were brown, but they were serious now. She was holding their son, who was wailing now. His hair was black like his father's and his eyes were blue like his father's but since he was so young there was no telling what he would look like when he was fully grown.

Hakase paused in surprise when he met his wife's eyes. She didn't look scared anymore, only determined. She was holding the wailing infant gently and making direct eye contact with her husband. She was trying to tell him something, but he wasn't sure what. Suddenly she wrapped the baby tighter in its blanket and snarled.

"Hakase," she suddenly cried.

Then she tossed the baby forward. She was desperate to save her baby, even if it cost her everything. She knew that if her husband wasn't fast enough that the baby would die, but it was the only chance that her son had of surviving, somehow getting to her husband. Since she couldn't move with the knife against her throat she had only one other option.

Roman snarled as he saw her toss the child, but he couldn't grab at the infant without releasing his hostage. Hakase on the other hand gasped in horror as he son his son flying through the air and instantly leaped forward to grab him. He caught the baby and cradled him against his arm and landed hard on his shoulder. Hakase shuddered but held onto his son tighter. The baby continued to wail, but as Hakase opened his eyes and looked down at him he seemed to be unharmed.

His relief was soon replaced with anguish though as he heard his wife scream. Hakase quickly managed to get up to where he was sitting on his knees, and still clutching his son, watched as his wife fell to the floor with a long gash in her throat. Hakase could only stare at her as she bled out, watching her son's wailing face with some semblance of peace of her face. Yoko Fudo had paid greatly for her bravery in trying to save her son's life.

Hakase suddenly found that he couldn't move. His brain wouldn't process anything other than the fact that Roman dropped the bloody knife and turned to face him with a snarl. His son's wailing was deaf in his ears suddenly, as was the horrified silence behind him of his co-workers. Roman was furious, but now he was more so. He had killed his hostage, and his second one had escaped his grasp for now. However he was more than willing to kill an infant. His eyes locked on the baby, making Hakase snap back into reality and hold his son closer to his chest.

"You may have saved your son for now," Roman growled. "But you haven't escaped my wrath."

"What are you doing Roman?" Hakase snarled. "This is murder! Why are you overloading the Ener-D Core? I saw that same sign on your arm!"

Roman seemed to pause a moment, turning to face Dr. Fudo as he did. Hakase tried suddenly to hush his young son, knowing that the man was unstable. He didn't want to give him any more reason to attack than he already had, and he was determined to protect his son. The infant Yusei seemed to calm a little when he heard his father's voice and his wailing was reduced to quiet sniffling as he buried his tiny head and hands into the white jacket at his father's shoulder.

"You always were rather perceptive, Hakase," Roman growled. "However you're too late. This place will be your tomb! Once I absorb the power within the Ener-D Reactor's Core I'll come back more powerful than ever before!"

Don't let him, the voice cried in Hakase's head. Stop him!

Hakase had no idea how he was going to do so, though he did see the strange device that Roman had attached to the machine that held the Core. It didn't take him long at looking at the mess of wires with cups at the end meant to attach to the body and sparks flying from it to realize that this was how Roman planned on absorbing the power of the Core. The problem was that Roman was between him and this part of the machine, and he knew it.

Roman smiled, and Hakase's eyes narrowed as he tried to think of a way to stop Roman, but none would come to his mind. He clutched at his son tighter and let out a growl. However to his surprise, a strong wind seemed to begin to blow out of thin air. Hakase yelped and shielded his son from it as he waited for the strange occurrence to subside. Then he froze as he heard a strange sound. It was the sound of a creature he'd never heard, like something that could come from the depths of the sea or the farthest reaches of space. It was a lonely and mournful sound. He looked up to see the source of it and saw something that defied all attempts at scientific explanation.

Though seeing Duel Spirits wasn't that unusual, this thing was different than any creature he'd ever heard of. He reached towards it with his psychic powers carefully but found that the creature's mind was far too foreign for him to find the mind of. He shuddered in its unearthly presence, but Roman winced visibly as he stared in disbelief at the creature.

It wasn't fully formed, though it appeared to have a head, a long body, something like claws and wings. The creature's body was made of some crimson substance that moved fluidly like water, as if it couldn't truly take its shape here. The creature let out its mournful cry again and dove straight towards Roman, making the man snarl and attack back against the thing that had appeared. Hakase could only stare for a few moments, wondering what was going on.

Go, the voice cried. He's distracted! Run now to the place where he was going to absorb the energy of the Reactor!

Unsure what else to do, the man clutched his son tighter to his chest and ran towards the strange machine he had seen added on. The crimson creature continued to dive at Roman again and again, driving him farther away from the machine. Everyone else in the room was shocked into silence and still as they watched the unreal scene unfolding before them. Hakase just kept running past the sparking Core and towards the machine. He felt dread in the pit of his stomach. This thing was going to blow at any moment.

Roman saw the man running past him and snarled. He seemed to summon up some of his strange magic from that dark purple mark, and the threw it at the baby. Hakase didn't hesitate to turn his body so that he took the blow instead of his infant son. It hurt badly, and the man screamed as he fell onto his back and clutched Yusei. The infant began to wail again as it realized that something was wrong. Hakase could only hold onto his son and force himself to breathe.

He wasn't sure what he'd just been hit with, but it hurt. The pain from the attack began at a small point on his back and radiated from that point, coursing through his body and causing agony to lance through his limbs. He forced himself to remember how to breathe and looked up again. Roman was again being distracted by the creature, and several of his co-workers were calling out to him and asking if he was alright. He glanced towards them, vaguely noting the presence of the Atlas family. Their son wasn't here, but he felt a drive to stand again. He couldn't let these people die.

His legs wobbled as he found his feet, and they nearly gave out again, but he turned and ran on towards the machine. However when he reached it he just paused, wondering what on earth he was supposed to be doing here. He had run over here, but why? He had no idea what to do or how to stop it. The machine was malfunctioning and there was some strange magic, more powerful than any natural psychic power that was common in their world today. There was no way that he could stop the meltdown himself.

Put your son into the machine, the voice urged, as if reading his thoughts. He can absorb the energy and stop the meltdown. He is chosen by fate, he is strong enough.

Even with the strange reassurances Hakase found himself clutching at his son and taking a step back. There was no way that he could put his son into that machine. He didn't know what would happen! Yusei was just an infant after all, and for all he knew this would kill the person trying to absorb the energy of the core. He shook his head. He would not do that to his son! He'd just lost his wife, there was no way he was taking the chance to hurt Yusei.

Do it, the voice growled in a less patient manner. There's nothing to fear.

"I-I can't," Hakase said quietly, taking another step back as if the strange machine would claim his son from him by itself. "I can't hurt my son..."

Suddenly the creature behind him gave out an enraged cry, making Hakase wince and turn around to look. The creature threw its wings apart and turned his head just slightly to look at the man. Its yellow eye seemed to flare a moment, and suddenly Hakase felt a deep calm come over him. He knew it was going to be fine. Everything would be alright as long as he did this. The creature began its attacked against Roman again, though it was slowly retreating towards Hakase and his son.

Hakase turned to laid his son in the strange machine, pulling the blanket away a little bit. He ignored the child's wailing as he attached the wires to him and then stepped back, watching him a moment. Roman snarled when he saw what the man had done, and he leaped forward as the Core began reacting to the baby's presence.

The crimson creature however curled its body around the two and hid them from few completely with its long body. It let out another mournful cry but refused to move as Roman attacked it again and again, trying to push past it to the man and his son. Behind the protective wall, Hakase watched his son as the light from the Core grew brighter until he had to shield his eyes from it.

Roman behind him yelped as the creature attacked him again, sending him flying across the room. The light began to fade, and the rumbling in the building stopped. Hakase stared at his son for a while, then his terror returned and his gasped. He grabbed Yusei and held him to his chest, bouncing the infant and trying to shush him.

The baby seemed to grow calm then and opened his eyes. Hakase met the boy's breathtaking blue eyes. They seemed far too piercing for a child his age. Yusei blinked and stared up at his father. Then he let out a laugh and smiled, reaching up towards his father's face. Hakase felt as if that smile was a stab at his heart.

"How can you still smile at me?" Hakase asked the infant quietly. "How can you still love me after what I just did to you?"

The boy didn't understand what his father was saying and just continued to coo at him. Hakase's resolve suddenly broke, and he fell to his knees, still clutching the infant. He laid his head against his son and started sobbing. How could he just do that to his son? What if something happened to him? What was he going to do now? As far as he knew he'd at least doomed his son to a lonely existence. If Yusei had absorbed the same energy that Roman had claimed would make him more powerful then he would never have a normal life. Yusei only cooed at his father in a confused manner and grabbed a tiny fistful of Hakase's hair as he heard his father crying that way.

The rest of the people in the room seemed to snap out of their confusion, seeing how the disaster had been diverted and they weren't going to die. Someone used their psychic powers to summon the card Swords of Revealing Light, which trapped Roman and kept him from running. Seeing that it was no longer needed, the crimson creature gave out one more mournful cry before taking to the air and disappearing the same mysterious manner that it had appeared in.

Hakase heard the sirens of the police as they were coming in and demanding what was happening. He heard Roman cursing him and his child as he was dragged away so he could do no more damage. He heard someone trying to get his attention and trying to figure out what was wrong, but he ignored all of it. He couldn't bring himself to care.

He could only wonder what had possessed him to hurt his son in this way. He could only cry as he thought of the fate he had subjected his son to, whatever that was going to be. He could only think how disappointed Yoko would be for him to have saved their son, only to do something like this. Yusei only cooed at his father as if to calm him down and held onto his hair tightly.

And that was the prologue that will set up the rest of the story. Don't worry guys, this story is going to get way better, and we've got some really exciting plot points in store. In chapter one you'll get to see what this little event did to Yusei, as well as what happens next.

I hope you enjoy the story so far, and I hope you'll consider following or reviewing if you like it because Minaly22 has some really good ideas and this story will only get better as you read more.
