Chapter 1:
"Ugh…what the hell just happened?" I asked myself, lifting my face from the sandy ground, feeling sick to my stomach and burdened with the worst headache I think anyone in existence has ever had. Looking up, I was expecting to see nothing but sand, but what I say was far more ominous. Scattered around me like bodies, all I could see were things sticking out of the sandy landscape. It's hard to describe what I saw, but they looked like weapons, except I don't know if they were. Keys. Large keys were what I saw sticking out of the ground.
"What are you doing here, kid?!" I heard a voice behind me. I stood up in alarm and saw a man wearing black robes.
"I-I don't know how I got here. The last thing I remember was…was…umm." I honestly didn't remember what happened or how I got there. Honestly, I couldn't even remember my own name. All I was wondering was who the hell was this guy, how the hell did I get here, and what was my damn name?!
"You seem distressed and your heart…it is lighter than most," the man said suspiciously.
"What's that supposed to mean?" This made me question more.
"Most hearts have some kind of burden, something that wears them down towards the path to darkness, but you…you're different. Your heart feels no burden, no sorrow, no pain."
"Really? Because the more you speak, the more my head feels like exploding."
The man laughed and removed his hood. He had long flowing grayish silver hair that rested on his shoulders. He was also wearing a blindfold. "You're pretty funny, kid. You remind me of someone who I haven't seen in a long time."
"Who are you?! Why do you know all of these things about me?!" I shouted at him.
"Let's just say I'm familiar with the darkness and hearts enough to where I notice ones that stick out, and yours does. There is one thing I'd like to try though." Out of nowhere, a blade manifested out of thin air into his hands. It was long and looked like a wing of some sort, but on the handle, there appeared to be an eye.
All of a sudden my hand shook a little bit. I could feel a presence overcoming my body, my soul. Then I felt it. Something had appeared in my hands that looked oddly similar to what I was surrounded by. It was light, very light, but what was it?
"Ha! I knew it. You see these things around you? These are Keyblades and you…have been chosen by one. A being worthy to possess the mighty Keyblade."
"You're saying that these…all of these…belonged to people? What happened to them?" I said with a slight heaviness in my chest.
"The Keyblade War happened to them. This is the Keyblade Graveyard and only Keyblade wielders and a few other people know of its existence. I'm not going to bother you by going into details, but I'm on a mission to find more people like you. You're not the only one left. A friend that I lost a while back was a Keyblade wielder, but I think I know where he is."
"Why does any of this matter to me?!" I exclaimed, still wondering about this thing in my hands that might be of some importance. It was long, really long. It was black, pitch black and the entire blade had a gothic look and feel to it, up until the tip of the blade. The end of the blade was silver and, unlike the rest of the blade, had an odd shape that looked similar to tentacles, but were three wavy prongs.
"I want you to journey to other worlds and help people. If there are other Keyblade wielders, then they might not know what they're getting themselves into. Darkness is everywhere and it appears in different forms, but I don't have the time to explain all of this to you. Speak to Yen Sid. He will show you the way."
"Why should I believe you?" I snarled at the guy who actually appeared to only be a year or two older than me.
"You're stranded in a wasteland that turns out to be a mystical graveyard. You have no idea who you are, why you're here, or why you were chosen, so it appears to me that you don't have much of a choice, but to trust me." I didn't bother arguing with him as he was completely right.
"Fine, I'm in. So, how do I leave this creepy place?" It really did freak me out, though. Something about the part where these all belonged to people really left a pit in my stomach.
"Close your eyes," the man said.
"Whoa there buddy. Is this going to get really weird quickly?"
"Shut up and close your damn eyes!" He shouted this time.
"Fine, fine." I closed my eyes and felt a slight shift in the air. I opened my eyes again and the man was gone and I was somewhere completely different. In front of me, there stood a tall tower that sat perfectly under a beautiful starry sky. I was astonished at the beauty.
Something felt off though. It felt like there was something else, an ominous presence. I looked down at my shadow right at that moment. Right as it started pulling away from my body leaving me with no shadow, and a dark silhouette of myself standing in front of me staring back with bright yellow eyes.
My horror intensified as it grinned, bearing sharp teeth. Then, it lunged towards me.
