After his loss against Seirin, while a part of him didn't feel good that he lost, he was relieved that Seirin had defeated him.
Tomorrow, he will have to face his father about this, and he may have to face this alone. He burned his bridges to get to this point, becoming the enemy for his former teammates to defeat.
He was alone, looking over the Tokyo nightscape, taking in the moment of tranquility where nothing was on his mind.
Finally...time truly away for myself.
It was going to take a little more time being back in reality, but he has the will and motivation to do this now.
"Akashi-kun."
He didn't need to look to know who it was.
"Kuroko."
Kuroko took a place next to Akashi at the railings, looking out at the nightscape as well.
They don't need words to have a conversation. It was comforting for Akashi just to have someone next to him right now. Kuroko's presence was always calming, whether it was now or back in Teikou.
It felt like hours have passed by before Akashi spoke.
"You should go back; everyone must be waiting for your return."
'Not staying with your enemy...'
Kuroko didn't bulge from his spot. The only conversation that was happening was their hard breathing in this cold winter.
When Akashi looked over to Kuroko, Kuroko seemed to be in deep thought. He turned back to look at the scenery and enjoyed whatever time left he had with Kuroko.
'Can tomorrow please come slower...?'
It felt like a long time before Kuroko spoke.
"Akashi-kun, Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, 'love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.'"
When Akashi turned to look at him, Kuroko was facing him with conviction and sincerity.
"You may have been my enemy, but you have always been my friend first and foremost."
Kuroko held out his right hand.
"So let's go back together. They're waiting for us."
Akashi could only let out a small smile as he reached for Kuroko's hand.
"Then we shall."
They would be going to not only Seirin and Rakuzan, but the rest of the Generation of Miracles' new teams.
He definitely will make his amends with everyone and give his proper thanks to Kuroko. Tomorrow might not be so bad after all...
'He had always exceeded my expectations...I shouldn't have expected less.'
A/N: Of course, after reading chapter 266, I would be getting another plot bunny when I already started writing something else (my first major plot bunny since 2006) from the previous chapters and reading people's metas on Akashi and Kuroko. Hope it was a good read and wasn't too unrealistic at the end.
