The Lonely Prince

By: SadieKamas09

There once was a Prince

Who sat down by the river.

Waiting for his bride,

His bones began to shiver.

To his shock, he saw her face

Floating under the water,

Wearing her bridal gown

And pregnant with his daughter.

She smiled and she spoke,

Saying, "Don't worry, my dear,

Everything is all right,

Just come close and near."

He leaned his head down,

But slipped and dove right in.

He cared not of his mistake,

Simply wanted to see her grin.

Unable to see her,

He dove deeper and deeper.

But as he dove, he realized

His distance grew steeper.

He covered his nose, for he knew

That his lungs were losing breath.

And within seconds, he succumbed

To his untimely death.

As he floated, lifelessly,

A maiden held him dear.

It was his bride, and she just faced

Her gruesome, unwanted fear.

She held him close, her eyes teared up.

Her soul filled with sorrow.

For he did not know it at the time

That her reflection, he did follow.
