Worlds Apart

He would not admit it, but he had tried so hard to be by the older one's side. Even through the losing of his two limbs, His certification as a state alchemist, and the broken-hearted realization that they would never gain their bodies back. The older one was almost giving up. Life was not worth living without reason, and all that kept him hanging by a thread was the younger one encased in armor. The gift of life breathing down the cold steel, and iron that kept his soul 'alive' was not truely his pride of being. The iron was his skin. Other than that, He was no truely alive.

For, The younger one could not cry. He could not smell, nor feel. His emotions were hard to describe, and his maturity may suprass that of his arrogant, but rightly so-placed brother's. His brother could still feel the skin of others. He still had nerves inside the metal encased right arm, and leg. He could cry, and show his tears... Though, That rarely happened. The last time had been when teacher, Izumi, had held them after a rash beating (One they deserved rightly for being so selfish, and stupid.) He did'nt cry when Winry had given him yet another arm.. Attaching the nerves, as even he knew, on automail was an unbearable pain.. Something along the lines of child-birth in his mind at least. It made even the most masculine of men cry, but not his brother... His brother had gone through much worse.

He had lost his leg to the other side... The younger had lost his entire body to the other side... He had screamed, and heard the return screams of 'Al', and 'Alphonse'. The older had sacrificed his right arm to sew the younger's soul to this armor that he lived in now. He could not imagine the pain Edward had gone through. Though, Even in the armor, The younger named Alphonse felt pain... He could not die while the older was still alive, and intact... His soul would drift a short while, then his brother would stop at nothing to return the body, and soul to each other. Even now, He traveled with the sole purpose of returning their bodies to normal.

Edward Elric, The 'Fullmetal' Alchemist, was a short boy with blonde hair that was usually tied in a decent braid with golden amber eyes that women seemed to swoon over... Though, The poor boy did'nt realize this. Alphonse Elric, The younger one, was encased in a suit of armor, but had fond memories of his own body.. The same color of blonde hair that his brother had. The gentle blue eyes that matched his personality... Though, He had no earthly idea what he would look like today... Though, In his head he voiced to himself. I'd probably be two times taller than Ed! To this he simply smiled in his own little way, and stared across the train seat at his older brother, whom he normally called Ed. The young man, donned in a red cloak and an odd sort of black leather clothing, smiled back before returning his chin to his hand which rested on the windowsill of the train... Alphonse understood his brother's innate energy... He had had the same type of body as his brother... Energetic, Restless, and Never still.. Though, he had become accustomed to sitting still... Being patient, and reserved. While his brother had retained the same arrogance, tirelessness, and determination.

They seemed worlds apart, but they could'nt be closer.
