This is my first posted Fic, so if it sux, don't kill me. I don't own anything in this fic, it all belongs to Jhonen Vasquez. Well, I do own Lightwing. She's mine. I had to write this for science class, and am so happy I found a way to enhance my schoolwork with Invader Zim. :)
Dib was walking home from school. It was a cloudy day, but not cold. He was contemplating how best to expose Zim's plots to take over the world when he heard a series of rapid clicks behind him.
"What is that?!" he muttered to himself, whirling around. What he saw widened his eyes and struck terror into his heart. He spun around and took off, spiky hair flying back, trench coat flapping behind him.
"I...think...that...was...a...raptor," he gasped. He looked back at his pursuer. It was eight feet tall, and eighteen feet long. It had giant claws on its hands, shaped and sized like Gurkha daggers. It had a scythe-like, twelve-inch-long claw on the inside toe of each hind foot. Dib searches his fairly encyclopedic knowledge of dinosaurs. It is a carnivore, a saurischian or lizard-hipped dinosaur. All dinosaurian carnivores were Saurischian. The dinosaur is obviously a raptor, but is too large to be a velociraptor. They were only six feet long. He looks at it again. It isn't a deinonychus, they were only man-sized. This thing is bigger than of a small car. He runs faster, his stride matching his heartbeat as he attempts to outrun the creature following him.
"Well... if it isn't...a velociraptor...or a...deinonychus," he muses, panting, "then...it...must be...a Utahraptor! That's it!" He stopped short, smiling in triumph. Suddenly he felt a heavy weight briefly hit his back, knocking him forward, then continuing on. He looked up and saw the utahraptor's dangerous feet pivot so the animal is facing him. An exultant voice filled his head.
I got you, Lightwing crowed triumphantly in his head. You should have seen the look on your face. It was great! She burst out laughing.
"Ha ha, nice one," Dib muttered sarcastically. "I've never seen that morph before. What is it?"
Utahraptor, she answered simply. I can't believe you haven't seen it yet, it's one of my favorite morphs. Dib shrugged his shoulders.
"Hmm, anyway, we'd better start heading home, it looks like rain," Dib suggested.
Okay, Lightwing answered. I'll come with you. As she walks along side him, she slowly changes from a raptor, to her regular form as a mutant pteranodon, then to a human girl.

Later that night, after Dib had finished writing the mystery turned action story for his science class, he researched Utahraptor on the Internet. He found that Utahraptor was the largest of the raptor family, with unusually large claws on its forefingers. He smiles.
"So my theory was right," he whispered.
