Sam stared at him across Daniel's hospital bed as he jumped down Daniel's throat. The man she helplessly watched die earlier today. His body left behind tearing at her soul. The man she loved standing here alive, arrogant, hostile, and without a trace of their love. She was a pile of paperwork to him, nothing more.
Sam moved around the bed. "Jack," is all she said placing her hand on his shoulder. He stood trying to sort out the emotions playing across her face. Loss, hurt, grief, love, and the last scaring him a bit as he took a half step backward. Sam moved slightly forward placing her hand on his face, grateful he was alive.
"I watched you die today, Jack. Now you stand here and don't know who I am."
"We've never met before ma'am."
"Jack, we've been married for two years." She wanted him to take her in his warm safe arms making it all right, and to take away the fear and pain.
"I think my wife might have something to say about that."
"Sara"
"Leave her out of this. I don't know you." He turned leaving.
A tear fell down Sam's face as he walked away forever.
