Bodies fled to the side, children screamed, merchants pushed their stalls to safety as everyone sensed the oncoming chaos; Zuko and Katara. Hand in hand, they pushed, jumped, bended, and ran across any obstacles in their way trying to escape the Dai Li.
"Your-" Katara hopped over a newly resurrected boulder, "fault! All-" she yelped as Zuko jerked her into a sharp turn, "you fault!!"
Zuko growled in frustration as he realized they were trapped, on either side of the narrow alleyway were mobs of Dai Li agents advancing on them.
Katara ran toward the wall and pulled down on a ladder quickly climbing up, dodging rock grips with steady one handed water whips, "Really, Zu-Zu, you can be slow sometimes," she panted. Zuko smirked at Katara's agility; their hours of training had paid off. He swept his Dao swords through the air, guarding Katara and himself from rocky grips. Reaching the roof in the nick of time, Zuko grabbed Katara's hand and raced forward to the edge, whispering in her ear "Hold on," and watched Katara's eyes slowly widen with realization. She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and held on for dear life, her heart pounded as she watched the ground tumble away from her.
Zuko gritted his teeth and slid down the length of the rope, swords down flat, holding either side. Sounds and colors blurred past them, all Zuko and Katara could hear were their hearts pounding and their prayers; please let this wire be strong enough. Katara's yelp opened his eyes and a curse formed at Zuko's lips as wet, drying laundry hit him. I was wondering what this rope was doing here... His sword hit an abrupt stop, too much drag from the clothes, and he looked around, the Dai Li will catch up soon, he thought frantically. He closed his eyes and swung down, releasing his swords and held on to Katara. The last thing either remembered before the darkness hit them was an anguished cry...
"MY CABBAGES!!!"
