To say it hurt was an understatement.
Jules couldn't resist saving that man. It was his job. The old man had been jumped in abandoned subway tunnel. Jules had killed the guy who jumped the old man, but right before dying, he threw a knife at the man.
And Jules jumped in front of him.
He convinced the man not to tell anybody and got as far away as he could.
So now he's lying in an abandoned subway tunnel with a knife in his stomach. He doesn't have the guts to pull it out. That and his guts would probably come out with it. It'll hurt more to take it out because the blade is serrated.
He's done it so many times, but it still hurts. He's been shot, stabbed, drowned, even hit by a train, but he's always scared.
It hurts to move. A rat nudges his leg and he screams, his voice echoing down the tunnel.
He coughs and lays there, trying not to scream. He doesn't know what happened until he tastes thick coppery liquid in his mouth and feels something warm sliding down his chin.
If he gets home now, he'll be fine.
He grits his teeth and pulls himself forward. He gets about ten feet before the knife handle scrapes against the ground and it moves.
And hurts. He claws at the air and his breath comes in short gasps because it hurts. So. Bad.
And then someone grabs his hand and pulls him into their lap.
He hears a soft feminine voice singing an old French lullaby. And then he's watching himself. He sees his head fall back. He sees her pull the knife out of his stomach. She puts him down on the floor and leaves.
THREE DAYS LATER
It's so cold. At first, he thinks he's in his room. But the floor is cold and hard, and he's tired.
And then he hears people talking. He tries to call out to them, but his voice is completely gone. He tries to get out his phone so they see the glow, but the effort exhausts all the energy he has left and he can't even keep his eyes open.
He's hungry. So hungry that it hurts.
His phone lights up. He hears people running towards him.
"Good idea about texting him. Is he dead?"
"I think he woke up-"
"Animated."
"Shut up. I think he woke up but he did something that used all the energy he had. I bet he's hungry."
"Only water. We don't want him chocking if he can't chew."
Somebody lifts him up so his head is resting on their shoulder. After he's had enough to water a large garden (exaggerated a bit), somebody wraps him in a blanket and picks him up.
So he sleeps.
He only wakes up to help Vincent take off his shirt, but he can barely move his hands and Vincent laughs and tells him to go back to sleep.
When he wakes up, Jeanne is going to bring him breakfast in bed.
Kate is going to model for him- with her clothes on.
Charlotte is probably going to yell at him. Depending on how relived she is.
At least that's what Vincent told him.
I'm sad that there's only gonna be 2 stories on this topic now…
