Yun-seong travels alone.
He takes pride in his manliness—he takes pride in his solitude. It makes him seem more focused, more powerful, more intimidating to his enemies. He likes carrying one bag for himself, he likes sleeping on the ground with nothing but his sword, and he likes being able to swear and spit and act like a normal man without anyone to judge his disgusting behavior.
Then he comes to the watermill village and meets her. He announces that he's looking for Soul Edge and she shakes her head and begins to rant and ramble about Soul Edge and how he should stay away from that sword, how it is no good, and how it will only lead to his untimely demise. While she's talking, he rolls his eyes at her. She chides him for doing so.
He learns that her name is Talim, and that she is a 15-year-old from a village of a wind god in the Philippines and that she has been collecting and purifying fragments of Soul Edge. The children of the hidden village tell him that she has been with them for about six months, treating their injuries and acting as a makeshift mother. She's incredibly short and tiny, being only 4'8" and weighing only 93 pounds.
From the beginning, she's a pacifist in his mind.
He's shocked when she comes to him one day and asks him to spar with her.
She wields two blades on her elbows, called Syi Salika & Loka Luha. She calls herself a disciple of a style called the "wind dance." Against his sword, it seems like he will crush her. She's so tiny and he's so tall and large and muscular.
He loses.
He goes to sleep sore and grumbling.
The next day she asks again.
And the next day.
And the day after that.
Before he knows it, he's becoming used to her hanging around.
He's used to her pointless babbling and he's become accustomed to her bad habit of tripping over everything a person could possibly trip on. He's used to catching her when she falls and he's used to her flowery scent. He's used to her soft, giggly laugh and he's used to her dainty walk. He's used to her. Over a period of a few months, he's become attached to the tiny Asian girl.
So when she finally finishes healing the children and prepares to leave, Yun-seong is torn.
She leaves, waving goodbye and giving hugs.
He waits for her to say goodbye to him, but she doesn't.
She leaves.
And he follows.
They meet when she stops walking to take a break and he finally catches up to her. She turns bright red and tries to run but his large hand grabs her tiny wrist and she's captured, forced to look up at the tall, intimidating boy. Tears fill her eyes and she flings her tiny arms around him and he is reminded of the fact that she is a female as she presses her tiny body to his, her tears getting his shirt wet.
He pats her on the head awkwardly, his face heating up.
She asks him to come with her.
He agrees.
Yun-seong used to travel alone.
Now they travel together.
