-1 Where sea and sky meet

(a Lament for Aragorn by his Queen, Arwen Undomiel)

Beneath the shade we parted

ere the sun set in the west.

Left alone here, broken hearted

Watching you take final breath

---

I knew that your time was coming

That your night was drawing nigh

Yet I never thought I'd feel this way

When kissing you goodbye

---

We had many years together

Loving, laughing, weeping too;

And I always felt contented,

My heart being one with you

---

But I see your eyes are dimming;

Your breath comes in fitful gasps,

So I sing to you and kiss you

Knowing it will be your last

---

Oh sweet Aragorn, my love and king

I know your death is near

My heart is tearing in my breast

To see you lying there

---

But I know that someday, ere to long

when my years, too, are spent

I will meet with you across the sea

And once more be content!

---

Where stars cast silver light upon

The land, undying green

Where old friends are waiting there upon

The shore line, pail and keen

---

I will meet thee there, my faithfull love

And there it is we'll greet,

Though I watched your death, still soon we'll stand

Where sea and sky do meet!
