Severus frowned again as another passing elf in a diaper threw pink confetti into the air, a few pieces landing in his teacup. It was Valentines' Day and he had thought the perfect place to Lily out on their first date would be the famed teashop. He had heard girls before gush about the romantic atmosphere but all Severus felt was nauseous.

Lily gave him a polite smile while holding her own cup to her lips. Her fingers reached over and plucked the confetti out of his cup. She was always so caring, always looking out for him.

Then she placed her hand on his and he could feel the warmth radiating from her skin. "Do you want to get out of here?" she asked.

He nodded, not wanting to seem to eager before they both took one more sip of their drinks, donned their winter gear and exited the store.

"The girls always said that place was great but I have to disagree. All that pink was just a bit too much," Lily said as she walked next to him. "I guess I'm not as girly as I thought."

Severus chuckled. That much was true and something he should have take into consideration before taking her there. Lily was not a delicate flower like some would think. She was outspoken and headstrong and everything he loved about her.

"Where do you want to go now?" she asked, quietly slipping her gloved hand in his.

He cast a quick look down at their entwined hands, still not over the initial shock that she would do so willingly, not as friends but as more than. Then he looked up and said softly, "Anywhere, as long as I'm with you."
