Awkward Moments

EPOV

Sitting on the couch, cuddling with Bella, I rested my head on hers, taking in her sweet aroma, quietly humming to myself to block out unwanted and inappropriate images of Rosalie, Emmett, clothes, and the lack there of. Alice was out shopping, and Jasper was sitting next to Bella and me on the couch He looked rather uncomfortable, curled into a ball with his head in his hands, rocking back and forth, due to the lust being emitted from the room just above us. I silently chuckled to myself, and resumed humming Bella's lullaby.

Jasper looked as if he were about to crack, and I wished Alice were here, that way he didn't have to restrain himself as much. I went on like this for a minuet, consumed in my thoughts, when suddenly I felt Bella tense against my marble body. Worried I looked up, and noticed Jasper had taken her hand caressing and kissing it. He had apparently let his guard down too much, and given into the emotions flowing down from the ceiling. Instantly enraged, I lunged at Jasper, our bodies colliding with an earsplitting boom. We tumbled through the glass wall directly to the left of the couch. I had him pinned down in the dewy grass before he had a chance to fully comprehend what was happening. He was sending out waves of confusion everywhere, and I had to fight to keep my senses. I was snapping my teeth together, let snarls rip from my chest and growling with such a passion I had never known. Suddenly, he burst out in hysterical laughter, which really only made me more angry. When I realized that he was again giving into his power, I turned to see Bella, Rose, and Emmett collapsing on the floor, doubling over with laughter. Esme was pinching the bridge of her nose, and I could tell she was extremely distressed, most likely from the gaping hole that was present in her living room wall.

I rolled off of Jasper and ran back to Bella, who was now gasping for breath.

"Breath, Bella, love. It really wasn't that funny!" I spoke calmly with growing anger. Not for her of course. But for my family. It was Rose and Emmett's fault this awkward situation had happened. Awkward situation of course being an understatement.

After about 6 minutes of incessant laughter, the unruly vampires I called siblings had calmed down, and returned to what they had been doing earlier. Emmett and Rose were back in their room… which had put Jasper back on the couch in a fetal position. This time I sat in between him and Bella, careful to avoid another episode. I turned the TV to cooking and turned up the volume in a futile attempt to drown out the sounds coming from Rose and Emmett's room. Bella and I had relaxed, and she was leaning on my chest, and I was humming her lullaby so quietly it was barely audible to her. She sighed and I knew she was close to sleep. I was playing with a piece of her soft brown hair, trying to coax her into slumber more quickly. I wanted nothing more than to retire to my room and lay on my couch with Bella. Really I just wanted nothing more than to get away from Jasper and his unstable emotions.

Then out of nowhere, I felt a hand, much to cold to be my true loves, running the length of my arm and down to my knee.

"JASPER!! CONTROL YOURSELF!!" I growled, trying my best not to stir Bella from her recently acquired state of relaxation. "THAT MEANS REMOVE YOUR HAND!"

Jasper looked sheepishly at his hand and its current position on my leg. Before he had any time to think, I lifted him up, making sure to gently lay Bella's head on the couch, and threw him through the hole in the wall. With that I grabbed Bella, and ran to my Volvo. As we peeled out of the drive, I looked at Jasper, who was still looking dazed and confused.
